Minoo Beach Club

0

Located on the southernmost point of Bali is the soon-to-launch Minoo Beach Club. Meaning ‘heaven’ in Persian, Minoo Beach Club is a slice of paradise in the Bukit Peninsula. Settled alongside Melasti Beach in the pristine Ungasan region, the beachside venue is heavily inspired by the bohemian.

The Sendi A-designed venue is set to launch in May, with a 100-capacity restaurant, 38 sun loungers, and a 15-capacity alfresco dining area. There is also two impressive options in terms of cooling off – Minoo Beach Club boasts direct beach access, as well as a swimming pool.

Robby Fahmi Kurniawan is at the helm of the kitchen as head chef. He has drawn upon nine years of experience in the hospitality industry to sculpt a specialty menu merging classic Western flavours with those of Asia, created in collaboration with operations manager Caesario P. Putra.

In terms of the dining experience, Minoo Beach Club takes ample inspiration from the local fishing industry. “Minoo’s food specialty is seafood, as the space on which the beach club sits was once a fishing village,” says Chef Robby. “It’s from our history that we’ve drawn inspiration for most of the menu, as well as its interiors – the restaurant itself is a former fishing boat.”

Stand-out dishes for the new venue will include a ‘Catch of the Day’. Working in collaboration with local fisherman for fresh seafood, the venue will then be able to customise the fish in question to guests’ preferences, whether that be grilled, pan-fried, wok-fried or steamed.

Minoo Beach Club will open its doors to the public in May.

Aman Skincare: Aman at Home

0

Offering peaceful sanctuaries across the globe, Aman’s philosophy has always been to welcome guests as if into the home of a close friend. Created bespoke for the brand, the Aman Skincare collection not only embodies and celebrates, but is also inspired by Aman’s constellation of hotels and resorts.

With a variety of products, Aman Skincare makes it possible to experience the sense of Aman and escape the frenzy of daily life from the comfort of ones’ very own home. The collection not only nourishes but transports to another location; from Amanpuri on the beaches of Thailand to Amanemu in the forests of Japan. The range has been formulated using exotic and natural ingredients, many of which are indigenous to, and have been wild harvested in Aman destinations around the world.

Blended to bring both tangible physical benefits and lasting emotional balance, Aman Skincare embodies three distinct wellness pathways that harness the natural settings of the brands resort and hotel locations. The Grounding pathway presents products that are earthy in their essence, drawing inspiration from mountains and deserts. The Purifying pathway offers refreshing and rejuvenating qualities, with ingredients sourced from the ocean, and the Nourishing pathway aids energy revival and derives from the lush greenery and forests that can be found in many of the destinations that Aman inhabits.

These pathways are linked with the wellness offerings at Aman resorts and hotels across the globe, making Aman Skincare the perfect way to sample this lifestyle at home. Much of the collection can be used in combination with other products to create a personalised ritual perfectly suited to the individual. The home is a personal sanctuary, dedicated to one’s mental and physical wellbeing and what better way to sustain this than with a home spa ritual.

The Purifying Quartz Scrub and Soak, an invigorating two-in-one bath treatment, harnesses the healing properties of quartz, to exfoliate skin, stimulate circulation and cleanse negative energy fields to release tension. Used in conjunction with the Grounding Maca Cleansing Powder, a magnesium-rich mud cleansing powder that boosts sensitive, tired and pollution-weary skin and promotes the skin’s cellular health, one can cast away the effects of the day.

Followed by either of Aman’s most loved formulations, the Purifying Hyaluronic Face Hydrator, for those with oily to combination skin, or the Nourishing Silk Cocoon Face Cream, for all skin types, the skin will feel refreshed, smooth and hydrated, the ideal way to begin a pleasant night’s sleep.

For those looking to ease physical and emotional tension and combat the effects of fatigue and stress, the Grounding Amethyst Scrub and Soak, paired with the Purifying Active Marine Mask, stimulates the circulation and collagen production.

To preserve the skin’s elasticity and promote a flawless complexion begin this ritual with the Purifying Marine Face Wash, which can be used daily on even the most sensitive skins. Kalpariane®, a trademarked seaweed extract with powerful rejuvenating properties, preserves the skin’s suppleness, and reinforces the hydro-lipid barrier that protects against sensitivity.

As part of the Grounding pathway, the Grounding Miracle Mud Mask, a botanical mineral mask breathes new life into dry, listless skin. The mask’s aroma has been created to mitigate the effects of stress and anxiety and is ideally used in conjunction with the restorative Purifying Palo Santo Salve – a balm that helps to reduce free- radical damage and support skin repair – or with the intensely hydrating, antioxidant-rich Nourishing Sacred Heart Balm. Preceded by the Nourishing Jade Scrub and Soak, a rejuvenating scrub treatment with cooling jade that hydrates, tones and revives, one can design their own deeply healing and strengthening spa ritual at home.

New for 2020, the Ultimate Bath Set combines four powerful products from all three of Aman Skincare’s healing pathways. It revives and revitalises and creates an authentic and immersive spa experience at home.

This set nurtures healthy, glowing skin while renewing energy levels and imparting a sense of peace and tranquillity. Included in this set is the Purifying Auric Cleanse Bath Salts, Nourishing Golden Body Serum, Nourishing Body Mist and Grounding Smoked Body Butter. These products tone, moisturise and beautify the skin while dispelling tension, lifting the spirits, and promoting a deep sense of emotional and physical wellbeing.

For more than 30 years, Aman has created an opportunity for guests to cast aside quotidian distractions and explore the possibilities of a better, more wholly nourished self from a place of serenity. From jungle to desert, countryside to city, Aman welcomes its guests into a comforting and holistic space to connect body and mind.

Aman Skincare is sold online via shop.aman.com, across the collection in the resort boutiques and at the Aman Spa at The Connaught Hotel, London.

Esri Indonesia Launches Geoportal to Track Covid-19 in Real-Time

0

Esri Indonesia’s Emergency Spatial Support Center (ESSC) has recently launched a COVID-19 Geoportal to help local authorities and communities take precautionary measures against the virus outbreak in the country.

According to Dr Achmad Istamar, CEO of Esri Indonesia, the COVID-19 Geoportal works as public health information tool that integrates information from the relevant government agencies and visualizes it on a dynamic mapping dashboard thereby giving users a compelling view of the outbreak as it unfolds.

The use of geospatial technology is indeed very suitable to be implemented in this kind of emergency situation. In line with what was stated by one of the speakers in the Esri Indonesia webinar “Introducing Onemap.id & Prevention Act in a State of COVID-19”, dr. Fedri Ruluwedrata Rinawan, M.ScPH., Ph.D.

“As a doctor who studies public health and geospatial, geospatial technology is very helpful in modeling the movement of the main pandemic factors, namely Biological Factor of the Virus, as well as the people’s activities or the distribution. Therefore, the collaboration is needed between various fields of science such as doctors, technology and geospatial experts, mathematicians, and those from other fields to help the government determine the direction of policies related to pandemics, and geospatial technology is one of the right tools for such collaboration,” said dr. Fedri [03/26/20].

Currently, the dashboard maps the confirmed and active cases, deaths and recoveries, and regions where COVID-19 infections have been recorded.

It also features important datasets on transportation facilities available, travel advisory leads and key referral hospitals for COVID-19 cases. All data were sourced from government agencies such as the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Transportation among others.

Furthermore, it also features live twitter feeds from relevant government agencies such as the Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization and the office of President Jokowi.

“During this time, the availability of authoritative data and information to all local authorities and the community is crucial in planning precautionary measures to prevent local transmission of the virus,” Dr Istamar said.

“Most importantly, having a one-stop portal for all information will avoid the spread of misinformation and fake news that is aggravating this public health crisis.”

Dr Istamar explained that the COVID-19 Geoportal is built on an ArcGIS Hub initiative-based approach which aims to promote greater engagement and collaboration between government agencies, non-profit groups and the academia.

“Adopting this approach allows us to not only provide map visualizations but also data, Application Programming Interface (API) and services that can be used by the communities to create their own apps without any programming skills required,” he said.

Dr Istamar highlighted the University of Indonesia’s SiCOVID Hub and the University of Brawijaya Malang’s COVID-19 Hub as excellent examples of how organizations could empower communities to make innovative approaches in solving challenges brought about by COVID-19.

Aman Announces New Wellness Programmes Aimed at Optimal Health

Aman is pleased to announce new wellness programmes designed to bolster and support the body’s natural defence systems with the aim of enabling guests to be at their optimum health. Drawing on the most advanced medicine and scientific knowledge, as well as the wisdom of ancient wellness traditions, each new programme will tackle every aspect of immunity and reflect Aman’s signature integrative approach to wellbeing.

Affected by so much more than changing seasons, personal hygiene and nutrition, immunity is impacted by key factors including state of mind and body, environment, emotions, energy, spirit and community. Personalised to every individual’s unique condition and circumstances, Aman’s new programmes take into consideration each of these aspects to aid immune response and to strengthen natural barriers.

Integrated Medical Immune Support Immersion Amanpuri, Thailand

In February 2019, Amanpuri became the brand’s first resort to provide medical services with the launch of its revolutionary Holistic Wellness Centre and transformative multi-day Medical Wellness Immersion programmes. A certified medical team from Phuket’s renowned health and sports resort, Thanyapura works alongside Aman’s alternative-therapy specialists at the Holistic Wellness Centre to offer medical services for those who desire optimal health.

The new Integrated Medical Immune Support Immersion is a five-night programme designed and led by expert physicians who have selected therapies supported by medical literature to contribute to improved immune defence.

Aiming to restore peak physical health and wellbeing, the Integrated Medical Immune Support Immersion begins with an orientation and wellness assessment on the day of arrival, as well as a 90-minute Aman signature massage. The assessment includes a physical examination and body-composition analysis, a blood panel test, a heavy-metal OligoScan test and a detailed health-history review to identify lifestyle factors that might be burdening the immune system. Evaluations by Amanpuri’s Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner and physiotherapist add to the holistic approach of the programme.

With results in hand, a private consultation with a doctor leads to the creation of a bespoke nutrition and medical programme. The programme includes six intravenous infusions (IVs) and one injection, four medical sessions, two 90-minute spa treatments, two 60-minute private movement sessions and all meals and daily health juices and shots from a personalised nutrition plan. A final consultation assesses progress and provides guidance for the future, alongside a comprehensive Immersion guide to take home.

Prescribed medical sessions include specific targeted therapies to enhance the immune system, decrease stress, reduce the effects of toxins and improve gut function. Intravenous therapies on offer include Myers’ Cocktail IV, a potent recovery formula with magnesium and vitamins C and B; Custom Immune Boost IV (Myers’ Cocktail plus alpha lipoic acid), helpful in carbohydrate metabolism and reducing inflammation; and High Dose Vitamin C, which promotes antiviral, antibacterial and anticancer activities. Vitamin D injections increase the level of macrophages crucial to the function of the immune system and helping prevent cancer.

Ozone therapy stimulates the production of cytokines, proteins secreted by the immune system that impact cell signalling. Acupuncture targets multiple aspects of immunity, along with other TCM therapies, while colon hydrotherapy improves the health of the gut. Guests can also choose to have a food intolerance test, an NK Cell Activity test, immunotherapy such as NK cell injections and GcMAF injections, plus Stem Cell Growth Factor therapy; and customised supplements.

In addition to the Immersion programme offered at Amanpuri, guests are now able to select from a choice of immune-supporting medical treatments at the Holistic Wellness Centre.

Traditional Medicine Immune Support Retreat Amanyara, Turks and Caicos
Amanzoe, Greece
Amanoi, Vietnam

The prevention of illness has always been considered the highest form of medicine in traditional health systems. With a history of more than 2,000 years, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) looks at health from a holistic viewpoint, addressing “patterns of disharmony” – the underlying areas of imbalance that cause ill health. Aman’s new Traditional Medicine Immune-Support Retreat focuses on the immune-supporting practices to regain the equilibrium of body and mind necessary to prevent ill health.

In TCM, practices that have evolved to ensure optimal health include acupuncture, moxibustion and acupressure massage. To protect against catching respiratory illnesses for example, the lungs (representing the immune system in TCM) must be strengthened through breathing exercises, cardiovascular exercise, acupuncture and herbal medicine such as the classic Yu Ping Feng San formula. Nutrition also plays a role in strengthening the digestive system and kidneys, with ginger, garlic, spring onions, fermented soy beans and chillies considered cleansing (and recognised for their antiviral and antibacterial properties from a modern medicinal perspective).

The retreat will be conducted at each resort by a certified TCM practitioner who will tailor the programme according to each guest’s specific needs. A minimum of three nights in duration, the retreat includes a private 60-minute consultation on arrival. Each day, guests will be offered a 60-minute specialist treatment, a 60-minute meditation or breathing session (offered at Amanyara and Amanoi only), a 60-minute private movement session and a 60-minute spa treatment (a 90-minute spa treatment is offered at Amanzoe), as well as all meals with prescribed herbal teas and juices.

Ayurveda Immune Support Retreat Amanbagh, India

Beyond the clamour and energy of Jaipur, the one-time Mughal hunting lodge of Amanbagh is set in serene wilderness at the foothills of Rajasthan’s Aravalli Hills – the ideal place to escape from the tensions of the modern world and connect with the rhythms of rural life.

The healing power of Ayurveda, an ancient form of medicine, has long been revered throughout India where the practices are thought to prevent disease by returning the body to its natural equilibrium. Aiming to fulfil the growing desire to achieve inner balance and lasting health, Amanbagh is now offering a new Traditional Medicine Immune Support Retreat, rooted in the principles of Ayurveda and lasting a minimum of four nights.

On arrival at Amanbagh, guests will receive a comprehensive wellness consultation conducted by the resort’s resident Ayurveda physician. During the evaluation, the presence of doshas (energy patterns) within the body will be assessed, determining the guest’s constitution and tailoring a bespoke wellness programme for the days ahead.

Each day, throughout the retreat, guests will enjoy an immune-supporting shot, a selection of restorative herbal teas, a daily private movement session, a bespoke Ayurveda spa treatment, guided walks at sunrise and morning group yoga sessions. Each yoga session will be led by Amanbagh’s in-house yoga instructor and will employ ancient techniques to aid breath control and develop strength, endurance, flexibility and mental clarity. As part of the programme, guests will receive abhyanga; a massage using warm Ayurvedic herbal oils. The natural healing qualities of the herbal oils, together with different massage techniques, encourage a deep cleansing of body and mind.

Throughout the stay breakfast is included daily and a healthy menu comprising the freshest local produce from Amanbagh’s two-acre organic vegetable garden will be available to guests.

Holistic Immune Support Retreat
Amanera, Dominican Republic / Amanemu, Japan / Amanjena, Marrakech

Amanera, Dominican Republic

The healing power of nature, with her vast apothecary of medicinal plants and soul-cradling beauty is well documented. New this year, Amanera is embracing this wisdom with the launch of a three-night Holistic Immune Support Retreat that has been defined by the resort’s natural surroundings in every way.

The retreat includes an initial wellness consultation with the resort’s Wellness Manager, four herbal medicinal remedies, immune-supporting herbal teas and juices, a nature walk, a 60-minute yoga session, a 60-minute Pranayama and meditation session, a 90-minute balancing facial and feet reflexology treatment and a 60- minute HIIT workout. The wellness experience will also include a dedicated healthy menu with local ingredients chosen for their nutritional benefits.

During the retreat, a two-hour Waning Moon Ritual will also be offered to guests. The waning moon signifies the releasing of emotional imbalances to achieve strengthened immunity. Starting with a cleansing guanábana and limoncillo tea to absorb toxins and stimulate the function of the digestive system, a mint ocean-salt exfoliation follows during which guests are cocooned in a marine wrap and pressure points on the lymphatic and emunctory systems are massaged. Warm medicinal herbal poultices are placed on the abdomen and a gentle drainage massage on the face uses cool Larimar stone.

Additionally, guests will be invited to enjoy a 90-minute Master Plants Ritual, in which an infusion of medicinal plants is used in a gentle body exfoliation helping to boost immunity response by increasing healthy blood flow.

Amanemu, Japan

Set on the shores of Ago Bay in the heart of forested Ise Shima National Park, Amanemu is located in close proximity to the sacred Ise Jingu Grand Shrine. The resort is Aman’s first mineral-hot-spring destination and the 2,000-sq m Aman Spa includes a large central onsen and two private onsen bathing pavilions.

The Holistic Immune Support Retreat at Amanemu is offered as a one-night/two-day programme and incorporates Toji Bathing, where guests remain in the warm onsen for an extended length of time to absorb the healing benefits of the mineral-rich hot springs. The retreat includes a 90-minute Sea Salt Scrub and Seaweed Body Wrap, a 90-minute acupuncture and moxibustion session and a traditional healthy Japanese lunch in a Wabako box comprising Yuba (curdled soymilk), steamed vegetables with a lemon and sesame sauce, fresh locally caught grilled fish, brown rice and miso soup.

Amanjena, Marrakech

The purifying and fortifying benefits of water, steam and touch have long been revered in ancient cultures. Central to North African preventive medicine are cleansing rituals involving purification by steam and exfoliating massage in a hammam, a Turkish bathing chamber. Taking place in the serene oasis of Amanjena, a rose-hued resort located just outside the fabled Red City of Marrakech, the three-night Holistic Immune Support includes an immunity-bolstering purification ritual and argan hair treatment in the resort’s marble- clad hammam. In addition, detoxifying massages, foot reflexology and immune-supporting herbal teas are offered.

New Immune Support Spa Treatments Aman Tokyo, Japan

Providing a tranquil sanctuary amid the atmospheric whirl of city life, Aman Tokyo is now offering a two-hour Ginger Tea Journey that has been carefully crafted to support the fragile immune system and aid physical health. Taking place in the 2,500-sq m Aman Spa set high above the skyline, this new treatment includes a wrap made from Japanese pepper that envelops the body, allowing for warm ginger tea to be poured all over to soothe muscle tension.

A full-body massage with Japanese pepper oil and a herbal ball compress is then offered, encouraging a state of deep relaxation and calm. In addition to the Ginger Tea Journey, Aman Tokyo has also introduced acupuncture and Shiatsu for all guests and visitors.

All Aman Wellness experiences are designed to encourage a process of release, allowing participants to leave behind negative holding patterns and embrace a strong newness of spirit, while taking with them what they have learnt to adopt a more meaningful and reflective way of living. The new programmes aim to renew individual confidence in the body’s ability to ward off infection, providing peace of mind and a sense of calm invaluable to the maintenance of optimal wellbeing.

A Challenging 2020 Ahead But Greater Opportunities for Occupiers

0
  • Office market conditions to generally turn more occupier-friendly as the COVID-19 outbreak impacts the global economic outlook
  • Markets with limited supply, such as Taipei and Ho Chi Minh City will be less severely impacted from the outbreak

Cushman & Wakefield has released their APAC Office Report: Outlook 2020, which has indicated greater opportunities for occupiers despite a challenging 2020 ahead resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak. An overall economic slowdown in Asia Pacific appears inevitable in 2020, but occupiers will likely enjoy declines in rental levels and enhanced lease terms.

The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated office market cycles, particularly in those markets where availability has been rising. As a result, most key markets in Asia Pacific will turn more occupier-friendly. As landlords scramble to protect long-term tenant relationships and defend against increasingly attractive incentive packages from their competitors, the negotiation ball is now more firmly in the occupiers’ court.

Arief Rahardjo, Director, Strategic Consulting, Indonesia, said: “There is still significant office space oversupply and whilst we saw a demand improvement and ‘bottoming-out’ in the vacancy rate in 2019 (which was expected to lead to the start of a recovery in the overall market going into 2021 & beyond – given the lower future supply levels), this COVID-19 outbreak is highly likely to prolong the current situation, with the market already seeing fewer leasing enquiries and delays to decision-making in the near-term (especially from overseas headquartered occupiers), as well as some deal cancellations.”

James Shepherd, Head of Research, Asia Pacific, stated: “As seen in all major territories, governments and central banks around the region have been responding to the situation with policy measures and financial aid to mitigate the economic impact. With China now appearing to be succeeding in controlling the outbreak at home, the World Health Organization believes that it is still possible to change the trajectory of the pandemic.

Assuming this scenario holds, and the global economy experiences a stimulus-fuelled rebound, we can expect office leasing activity to pick up in H2 and beyond as normal business activity gradually resumes. Although some local markets have started to show signs of recovery, global economic headwinds are likely to temper this.”

In Greater China, an influx of supply had recently prompted a downward rental trend in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. Given the impact of COVID-19, rentals are expected to slide further. For Hong Kong, the outbreak deals a second blow to a property market already weakened from social unrest. The premium office market is expected to remain under pressure over the near-term.

Rental growth is likely to be weak in Sydney, Australia, over 2020 due to the economic impact of the pandemic. However, relatively muted supply and low vacancy suggest growth can return relatively quickly with economic recovery. In contrast, rents are nearing peak in the current cycle in Singapore. Despite lower market confidence, landlords have been able to hold their rents steady for the moment due to tight vacancies and limited upcoming supply. Global economic and geopolitical uncertainties are also taking a toll on the ability of companies to secure budgets for relocation and expansion, limiting the demand for office space.

Dr. Hideaki Suzuki, Head of Research & Consulting, Japan, said: “An increase in vacancies can be noted in Tokyo, Japan, currently at historical lows of below 2%, and is pending as tenants look to move into new projects, and secondary vacancies rise. Consequently, as a result of the outbreak, the market is braced for a change in direction.

“Asia Pacific became the first region to experience the real economic repercussions of the COVID-19 outbreak. China’s GDP growth will be dented, which in turn will exert economic stress on the Asia Pacific region and the global economy. However, a rebound in economic activity is expected to prompt a gradual return to pre-outbreak office market conditions by 2021.”

Luxurious interiors blend Sofitel brand’s French influence with Mexican culture

Global interior architecture firm Wilson Associates is pleased to unveil the interior design narrative of the newly opened Sofitel Mexico City Reforma. Located on Paseo de la Reforma, Sofitel Mexico City Reforma, is the first luxury hotel to open in Mexico City in more than a decade.

Wilson Associates’ Dallas studio led the design of the 275 luxurious guest rooms, a Sofitel Spa with L’Occitane, state-of-the-art fitness center, and over 7,000 square feet of meetings and events space.

Drawing inspiration from the Sofitel brand’s French roots, as well as the rich culture and history of Mexico City, the design team created an immersive experience for hotel guests and local visitors alike –– highlighting the vibrant Mexican culture within a chic, French context.

Sofitel Mexico City showcases interiors inspired by two iconic architects from the 20th Century: Swiss-born French architect Le Corbusier and Mexican architect Luis Barragan. Representing the unique aesthetic of these two masters, Sofitel Mexico City embodies characteristics of the Modernist Movement through rich color palettes, spatial design and art curation.

Guests experience a grand arrival upon entering Sofitel Mexico City Reforma, which neighbors the iconic Angel of Independence monument –– welcomed by surrounding views of the Mexico City skyline on the lobby level on the 14th floor, where they can proceed to the next floor via a sculptural staircase.

The design team drew inspiration from a 35-millimeter film reel to conceive the geometric look of the staircase. Ascending up the tower, Sofitel Mexico City Reforma features 275 stylishly appointed guest rooms – 219 Superior and Luxury Rooms and 56 Suites – located on the 15th through 37th floors, all with unparalleled views of Mexico City.

Guestrooms are dressed in serene and cool hues with playful touches of pink and blue, and complemented by contrasting materials that include textured walls, wood paneling and marble finishes.

Designed to maximize functionality without compromising comfort, guest rooms are thoughtfully appointed with touches such as L’Occitane amenities and self-serve Nespresso coffee machines. The guest rooms offer floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the Mexico City skyline. Technologically intuitive features include Bluetooth connectivity and automated curtains revealing sweeping views at the touch of a button.

The hotel also features the Imperial Suite, located on the 37th floor, with over 3,300 square feet of living space, including a separate living room and dining room as well as floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the entire suite.

Sofitel Mexico City Reforma is also home to the first L’Occitane Spa within a hotel in Mexico. The Sofitel Spa with L’Occitane features exclusive treatments, including stimulating body massages and rejuvenating facial treatments, especially designed with music and fragrances to create an all-encompassing holistic experience.

An indoor swimming pool surrounded by living green walls, is located on the 38th floor, as well as a 24-hour fitness center.

With a total of approximately 5,000 square feet of meetings and events space located on the 40th floor of the building with a spectacular 360-degree view of the city, and over 1,900 square feet of meeting rooms on the 13th floor, Sofitel Mexico City Reforma is set to host a variety of social events and business meetings for up to 400 people.
