Starbucks Announces Expansion to the City of Pematang Siantar and Palangka Raya

“Customers have been waiting for to experience Starbucks offerings, and we hope that the Pematang Siantar store and the Diponegoro Palangka Raya store will become a new favorite hangout place for the local communities,” he added.

Entering its 21st anniversary, Starbucks has expanded to more than 40 cities in Indonesia by the end of 2022, with more than 4,300 partners who are proud to wear the green apron. And today, the company offers many ways for customers to connect with their loved ones over a high-quality cup of Starbucks coffee.

In its mission to make a difference in the lives of those connected with Starbucks, the company also strives to make a positive impact in the communities it serves. In 2020, Starbucks opened its first Community Store in the Jakarta Tanah Abang neighborhood, to create educational opportunities for young people in Tanah Abang, followed by the Starbucks Creative Youth Entrepreneurship Program (SCYEP) in supporting youth empowerment.

At the end of 2022, Starbucks also opened its first Signing Store in Indonesia to provide an inclusive work environment that is unified in Sign Language. In collaboration with the Farmers Support Center in Berastagi, North Sumatra, more than 500,000 coffee seeds have been donated to coffee farmers through the Art in the Cup program. And as an appreciation to the frontline responders of the Covid-19 outbreak, more than 50,000 cups of the drink have been donated to hospitals and vaccination centers.

In line with its mission to strengthen humanity by changing lives around the world, with a focus on empowering community resilience and well-being and boosting the morale of people affected by disasters, Starbucks Foundation supports many other initiatives in Indonesia. In 2022, the Starbucks Foundation is collaborating with Habitat for Humanity and PT. Sari Coffee Indonesia to support the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) project in Bojong Koneng Village, Babakan Madang, Bogor.

Additionally, Starbucks Indonesia partners installed the AquaTower with Planet Water Foundation in Cipamokolan, Bandung on World Handwashing Day, making it the tenth tower in Indonesia since 2011. In addition, Starbucks partners have supported projects led by Mercy Corps Indonesia, and funded by the Starbucks Foundation, to empower female coffee farmers in Bandung Regency through training and mentoring.

Recently, the Starbucks Foundation also supported the implementation of the AquaBlock emergency water system in partnership with the Planet Water Foundation to provide clean and safe drinking water for earthquake-affected communities in Cianjur.
