The Qatar Airways is pleased to announce the airline will be resuming services to Bali Denpasar, Indonesia starting from 1 July 2020. The resumption of services to the famed paradise island in Indonesia marks a significant step in the airline’s gradual rebuilding of its network in the Asia-Pacific region. Services to this holiday island will be operated by a Boeing 787-8 offering 22 flatbed seats in Business Class and 232 seats in Economy Class.

The national carrier of the State of Qatar will also increase flights to the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, with 11 weekly services starting from 7 July 2020. As one of the only global airlines to have maintained a significant schedule throughout this crisis, Qatar Airways is uniquely positioned to monitor trends in traffic flow and passenger bookings. The airline expects these additional flights to provide further seamless connectivity via its award-winning hub, Hamad International Airport, with its Asia-Pacific destinations, in particular Australia where the airline continues to operate 21 weekly flights to Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

Qatar Airways Vice President for South East Asia, Mr. Jared Lee said: “Qatar Airways has shown to be a responsible and reliable airline during this Covid-19 pandemic and we are delighted to resume services to Bali Denpasar, one of the most visited tourist destinations, along with an increased flight frequency to Jakarta. We would very much like to support the recovery of the tourism industry in Indonesia and look forward to the return of international leisure travel. With more entry restrictions around the world beginning to ease, we believe that holiday makers will steadily return.”

Qatar Airways has further enhanced its onboard safety measures for passengers and cabin crew. The airline has introduced Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for cabin crew which includes gloves, face masks, safety glasses and a new protective gown that is fitted over their uniforms. A modified service that reduces interactions between passengers and the crew inflight has also been introduced.

Onboard, all Qatar Airways passengers are now provided with a complimentary protective kit. Inside a ziplock pouch they will find a single-use surgical face mask, large disposable powder-free gloves and an alcohol-based hand sanitiser gel. The airline has also introduced disposable face shields for adults and children. Passengers travelling from Hamad International Airport (HIA) will receive their face shields at the check-in counters, whereas at other destinations, the face shields will be distributed at the boarding gates.

To ensure travellers can plan their travel with peace of mind, the airline has extended its booking policies to offer even more choice to its passengers. The airline will allow unlimited date changes, and passengers can change their destination as often as they need if it is within 5,000 miles of the original destination. The airline will not charge any fare differences for travel completed before 31 December 2020, after which fare rules will apply. All tickets booked for travel up to 31 December 2020 will be valid for two years from the date of issuance.

Camp Sarika by Amangiri Launches 1st July 2020

0

An Enclave of Seclusion at One With Wilderness

Surrounded by 600 hectares of raw wilderness in the heart of the Utah desert, Camp Sarika by Amangiri launches on 1st July 2020, heralding a milestone moment during Amangiri’s ten-year anniversary. Consisting of just tentented pavilions, the camp is a serene and timeless retreat where cloud shadows dance over vermilli n rock formations, boundless skies expand horizons and time stands still. Within this remote sanctuary, utterly attuned to nature, guests can experience solitude, privacy, escapism and adventure.

Concept

The new luxury encampment claims 55 pristine hectares a 30-minute hike (or five-minute drive) from its iconic sister resort; Amangiri. While camp guests enjoy full access to the resort’s facilities whenever they wish, everything they need is conveniently located at Camp Sarika.

Overlooking striking flat-topped mesas, the camp comprises ten tented pavilions each with its own spacious outdoor deck and private plunge pool. These are intuitively placed to provide the utmost seclusion and unimpeded views, while still allowing easy access to the camp’s main pavilion with its two spa suites, restaurant, sun deck, swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Deriving its name from the Sanskrit word for “open space” and “sky”, the camp enables a back-to-nature wilderness experience in consummate comfort, revealing Utah’s otherworldly landscapes and intriguing aspects of Native American culture at every turn. The abundance of space surrounding the camp is reflected in its design, making the camp the ideal destination for groups or families looking for an exclusive insight into the destination or a special place for an important celebration in undisturbed privacy.

Design

Offering a connection with nature that leaves city-life a distant memory, Camp Sarika’s design has been developed in timeless-tune with its inspiring environment. It forms an architectural statement and the first year-round camp of its kind in North America.

Camp Sarika’s ten tented pavilions have been designed by San Francisco and Johannesburg-based international design and development services firm, Luxury Frontiers. Balancing form and function, they bow towards the sandstone formations and are covered in soft canvas – woven from recycled plastic bottles and each one able to handle up to 12 tons of snow.

The interior décor of each tented pavilion includes custom designed walnut and leather furniture and etched timber headboards that echo the camp’s carved surroundings and are suspended from soft leather straps. Meanwhile outside – accessed via sliding doors – the architectural design continues to captivate; individual plunge pools, firepits with fireside furniture and telescopes further encourage an immersion in nature and the outdoors.

Camp Sarika’s central pavilion was designed by New York-based Selldorf Architects, and the building seamlessly anchors to the environment. Paying homage to its neighbouring sanctuary, Amangiri, the main building is designed with minimalism in mind, where simple concrete blocks blend effortlessly into the rock.

Upon entering, a breath taking art installation, by internationally acclaimed artist Maya Lin titled Wahweap, welcomes guests. Inspired by tracing the shape of water as it travels from nearby Lake Powell to Lake Mead the piece is created in glass and marble, while open fireplaces and earthy materials further connect the building to its natural surroundings. Leading through to an expansive outdoor terrace, the swimming pool is flanked by shaded daybeds for escaping the midday sun and a heated jacuzzi for relaxing at dusk. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, surrounded by fire pits that add to the atmosphere.

Tented Pavilions

Claiming unobstructed views of the mesas or facing west to catch the sunset every evening, the camp’s spacious ten tented pavilions feature either one or two bedrooms, as well as a living area, dining area, bar, and private terrace with a fire pit and heated plunge pool. The five one-bedroom tented pavilions each cover 175 square metres, while the five two-bedroom tented pavilions cover 262 square metres.

The tented pavilions evoke the clean lines of the suites at Amangiri, where natural materials reflect the light- transforming, undulating surface of the desert outside. Set in unparalleled proximity to nature, the interiors include soft decorative canvas ceilings, and wooden fittings, as opposed to Amangiri’s blackened steel and stone furnishings.

Dining

With Chef Anthony Marazita at the helm, the camp’s restaurant is open throughout the day, serving innovative, responsibly sourced dishes with a focus on Southwestern Native American cuisine. The restaurant’s menu changes daily, incorporating the freshest local produce while also catering for vegetarians and vegans. In-room dining, and outdoor locations are used for memorable private dining experiences.

Situated in the main pavilion, with both indoor and outdoor seating and breathtaking views, the restaurant serves an a la carte breakfast ranging from kettle oats and house granola to Mequite eggs benedict and smoked Utah ruby trout toast. Culinary highlights for lunch and dinner include wild game chili, grilled Scottish salmon, duck confit and a black bean burger, while after dinner heralds the arrival of craft cocktails and the nightly chef’s appetizer. Afternoon tea is served daily.

Spa and Wellness

Camp Sarika allows guests to reap the benefits of connecting with nature – increased mindfulness, reduced stress levels and a clearer headspace – with every convenience and luxury at hand. Claiming tranquil desert views, the two spa suites offer an extensive menu of spa therapies inspired by traditional Navajo wellness practices, as well as Aman’s Signature treatments based on the brand’s Grounding, Purifying and Nourishing skincare pathways.

Camp Sarika offers a special two-hour spa journey known as Desert Calm, designed to hydrate and soothe body, mind and spirit. Following a gentle full-body exfoliation, a body wrap of Red Sedona Clay infused with natural botanicals draws out toxins and provides nourishment to the skin. Warm sesame oil infused with lavender is massaged into the scalp, then after a hot steam shower, hydrating lotion is massaged into the body.

Yoga and guided meditation are offered al fresco in multiple settings, allowing guests to reground themselves within the astounding natural beauty of the Utah desert. Tailor-made experiences include greeting the sunrise atop Tower Butte, 5,000 feet above sea level. This journey begins with a scenic helicopter flight over Lake Powell and Glen Canyon, before an hour’s yoga and meditation session atop the butte. Camp Sarika guests also have full access to Amangiri’s Aman Spa, a 2,322-square-metre destination unto itself.

Experiences

Surrounded by numerous national monuments, the Navajo Nation Reservation, and five national parks including Zion, Grand Canyon and Bryce, Camp Sarika is exceptionally well placed for exploring the natural and cultural attractions of the region. Serving as an idyllic escape and a springboard for exploration of the area, the camp offers desert and mountain hiking with its own private trail system covering over ten miles of routes directly from its doorstep. The camp offers morning and afternoon wellness experiences indoors and out, canyoneering, its own Via Ferrata route and horseback riding, as well as many other adventure activities.

Adventure activities include hiking to Horseshoe Bend, Paria Overlook or Resurrection Canyon, touring Monument Valley, exploring the well-preserved cliff dwellings of the Navajo National Monument and kayaking, fishing, paddle-boarding or boating on Lake Powell. The Colorado Plateau is also home to some of the world’s best biking trails. Guests have access to e-bikes, and can choose from 3-hour, half- or full-day guided tours.

Camp Sarika arranges private tours by plane, helicopter or hot air balloon to reveal the magnificence and true scale of the region from the air. Or guests can get up close and personal with the region’s history exploring the slot canyons or studying the 6,000-year-old petroglyphs in Broken Arrow Cave. The camp also enables a deeper immersion in Native American culture, with storytelling and stargazing around the fire every evening.

Nearby Amangiri

A scenic five-minute drive from Camp Sarika, Amangiri is tucked into a protected valley with sweeping views towards Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. Built around a magnificent swimming pool that embraces a dramatic stone escarpment, the resort’s Main Pavilion houses the Dining Room, the Living Room, a library, gallery, private dining room and cellar. Beyond lies the Desert Lounge, an open-air living room ideal for sundowners or stargazing. Two accommodation wings lead from the pavilion into the desert, housing 34 suites in total – many with private swimming pools and roof terraces.

Since its launch in 2009, Amangiri has won multiple awards for its remarkable design, intuitive service and luxurious proximity to nature. Camp Sarika adds a new dimension to this extraordinary all-season destination, providing another setting in which to embrace the pristine and astonishing beauty of the American Southwest.

Getting There

A 30-minute drive from the nearest town of Page and its international airport, Camp Sarika encourages a private and peaceful connection to its dramatic surroundings while remaining surprisingly accessible. The camp’s remote location imbues a sense of community and exclusivity to those in residence, a nod to Aman’s trademark appreciation of a destination.

Minoo Beach Club Opens on Idyllic Melasti Beach

0

The Bohemian-inspired beachside concept opens its doors in Ungasan

It’s on the southernmost point of Bali that you’ll find the soon-to-launch Minoo Beach Club. Meaning ‘heaven’ in Persian, Minoo Beach Club is a slice of paradise in the Bukit Peninsula. Settled alongside Melasti Beach in the pristine Ungasan region, the beachside venue is heavily inspired by the bohemian.

The Sendi A-designed venue will launch on July 1st, 2020. A 100-capacity restaurant will greet guests, joined by 38 sun loungers, a 15-capacity alfresco dining area. There’re also two impressive options in terms of cooling off – Minoo Beach Club boasts direct beach access, as well as a swimming pool.

Robby Fahmi Kurniawan is at the helm of the kitchen as head chef. He’s used his nine years of experience in the hospitality industry to sculpt a specialty menu which merges classic Western flavours with those of Asia, and has been created in collaboration with operations manager Caesario P. Putra.

In terms of the dining experience, the beach club takes ample inspiration from the local fishing industry. “Minoo’s food specialty is seafood, as the space on which the beach club sits was one a fishing village,” says Chef Robby. “It’s our history that we’ve used to draw inspiration for most of the menu, as well as its interiors – the restaurant itself is a former fishing boat”

Stand-out dishes for the new venue will include a ‘catch of the day’. Working in collaboration with local fishermen for fresh seafood, the venue will then be able to customise the fish in question to guests’ preferences, whether that be grilled, pan-friend, wok-fried or steamed.

In light of Covid-19, Minoo Beach Club has also introduced strict protocols to ensure the health and safety of its guests. Perhaps most importantly, venue capacity has been reduced by 50%, and guests will be required to wear a mask at all times except when eating and drinking. Regular hand washing will also be encouraged, cashless pay introduced, and temperature checks required on entry.

Team members are required to have their temperatures checked before entering their working environment, as well as adhere to social distancing and don protective equipment including face masks, face shields and hand gloves. The venue will also be thoroughly disinfected twice a day – before opening and after closing – with all high-touch surfaces additionally disinfected throughout to ensure that any experience of Minoo Beach Club is nothing short of outstanding.

Mindfulness at The Apurva Kempinski Bali

0

The Apurva Kempinski Bali has been known to incorporate mindfulness into its resort activities. This year, the five-star resort takes things further by participating in Global Wellness Day.

Global Wellness Day is an international event that has been celebrated annually, and is dedicated to the art of living well. People all around the world participate in this special event on the second Saturday of June every year. The aim of Global Wellness Day is to get rid of the stress of everyday life, while raising awareness of living well and generating motivation.

The Apurva Kempinski Bali offers a series of initiatives, launched on 13 June, which are centred around the chakras, or the energy points, of the human body. Seven different programmes are available, with the theme of Mindfulness: The Art of Being Present. Designed with the wisdom of chakras in mind, these activities have been prepared to correspond to each of the seven chakras in the human body, releasing any blockages that might disrupt the energy flow.

As a centre of energies, the chakras are vital energy points that form a network connecting body, mind and spirit. When a chakra point is disrupted, the body becomes imbalanced. Awakening the chakra spirit becomes the main focus, and all is prepared to ensure a smooth flow of energy, starting at the bottom with the root chakra, and on up to the crown chakra at the top of the head for a complete healing for both body and soul.

Wrapping up the wellness programme, the resort is releasing a special talk show with Bapak Merta Ada – Founder of Bali Usada, who is an award-winning healing practitioner. Together with this prominent figure, The Apurva Kempinski Bali utilises its online platform to help people all around the world find mindfulness.

‘Global Wellness Day is a great initiative to promote healing, and people need it more than ever, especially with everything that has been going on around us,’ shared Rahma Susanti, Director of Spa at The Apurva Kempinski Bali. ‘These activities will help us to quiet the mind and rediscover our centre. We hope that by taking part in this global movement, more people will be able to tune in to their intuition, and overcome fear.’

The programmes are available every day, and are priced at IDR 2,500,000 per person. Participants are encouraged to confirm their reservations in advance, and are entitled to a special wellness gift.

A PRIVATE ESCAPE OF DAYS GONE BY

Reopening on 1 July 2020 and claiming an entire peninsula and one of Phuket’s finest white sand beaches, Amanpuri offers the idyllic Thailand escape of days gone by. Designed to reflect the country’s classic architectural style in harmony with its verdant natural surroundings, the resort provides the space, peace and discretion of a private island with 40 standalone guest pavilions and 40 private multi-bedroom villas.

Ensconced within pockets of lush tropical vegetation and designed to echo the Buddhist architecture of ancient Ayutthaya, the standalone guest pavilions and private villas are secluded, offering a tranquil and undisturbed stay away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The one- or two-bedroom pavilions are set on a hillside above the resort’s golden beach and have spacious terraces and expansive indoor and outdoor living areas. Six of the pavilions have their own private swimming pools.

5 Bedroom Villa

Ranging from one- to nine-bedrooms, the ocean villas overlook the turquoise waters of the Andaman Sea, whereas the garden villas are nestled amongst towering coconut palms and bursts of colourful flora. While villa guests enjoy full access to Amanpuri’s facilities whenever they desire, everything they need is conveniently located within the boundaries of their own private home.

Influenced by the bountiful environment that it inhabits, Amanpuri’s authentic dining venues utilise locally sourced ingredients and explore cuisines from across the globe, including Thai, Italian, Mediterranean and Japanese with an emphasis on fresh seafood. A meal from any of the resort’s dining venues can be served in the pavilions, villas and outdoor locations, with exclusive use of all restaurants also an option.

With its tranquil setting, Amanpuri has long been a sanctuary for those seeking a positive shift in terms of wellbeing. The resort’s extensive Aman Spa features 12 treatment rooms, hydrotherapy areas with steam rooms, traditional saunas, two infrared saunas, Jacuzzis and cold plunge pools, and a finishing salon for nails and hair. The fitness studio includes a glass-walled gym, a Pilates studio, a Muay Thai studio and boxing ring, yoga pavilions and a juice bar.

Wellness at Amanpuri

In February 2019, Amanpuri became the brand’s first resort to provide medical services with the launch of its revolutionary Holistic Wellness Centre and transformative multi-day Medical Wellness Immersion programmes. A certified medical team from Phuket’s renowned health and sports resort, Thanyapura works alongside Aman’s alternative-therapy specialists at the Holistic Wellness Centre to offer medical services for those who desire optimal health.

New this year, Amanpuri has introduced a five-night Integrated Medical Immune Support Immersion that is designed and led by expert physicians who have selected therapies supported by medical literature to contribute to improved immune defence. Aiming to restore peak physical health, the Immersion begins with an orientation and wellness assessment on the day of arrival, as well as a 90-minute Aman signature massage.

The programme includes six intravenous infusions (IVs) and one injection, four medical sessions, two 90-minute spa treatments, two 60-minute private movement sessions and all meals and daily health juices from a personalised nutrition plan. A final consultation assesses progress and provides guidance for the future. In addition to the new Immersion programme, guests are able to select from a choice of one-off immune-supporting medical treatments at the Holistic Wellness Centre.

For those looking to kickstart their wellness journey, the Detox & Cleansing Immersion is the perfect way to recalibrate and reassess the body’s needs. Following a private consultation, the personalised programme naturally stimulates the detoxification pathways of the body, removing the obstacles to wellness created by emotional eating, bad habits and high-stress lifestyles. Treatments concentrate on clearing toxicity, draining the lymph, and releasing tension to relax and renew the body and mind.

Guests will leave with tips on how to dispel negativity, forge new neural pathways and increase their mental acuity. Activities offered as part of the immersion include yoga, acupuncture, lymphatic drainage and a daily mindful menu of fresh juices and locally sourced dishes and a personalised blend of herbal tea, created by a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) specialist.

Amanpuri

Aman was founded in 1988 with the vision of building a collection of intimate retreats with the unassuming, warm hospitality of a gracious private home. The first, Amanpuri (place of peace) in Phuket, Thailand, introduced the concept and, since then, Aman has grown to encompass 32 exquisitely serene hotels and resorts in 20 destinations across the world, with a further nine under construction.

The next Aman to open will be Aman New York (2020). The introduction of Aman Skincare in 2018 continued the holistic journey beyond the perimeters of Aman’s havens. Offering a soothing journey to a place of beautifully scented repose and respite, Aman Skincare represents the spirit of Aman in a bottle.

In 2020, Aman welcomed a new hotel brand, Janu – meaning ‘soul’ in Sanskrit. Janu offers a unique take on hospitality where genuine human interaction, playful expression and social wellness are at the core of the experience. Janu aims to bring balance to the head and heart and rekindle the soul. Janu launches with three forthcoming hotels which are already under construction: Montenegro (2022), Al Ula in Saudi Arabia (2022) and Tokyo (2022), as well as a robust pipeline of future hotels. Janu Montenegro will be the first hotel to incorporate the brands serviced residence concept, enabling guests to wholly embrace the Janu lifestyle.

With Boston, New York, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Joining Airline’s Existing Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth Flights

  • The carrier will operate 39 weekly flights to six gateways in the U.S that will connect onto hundreds of U.S. cities through its partnerships with American Airline and JetBlue
  • Qatar Airways is the only Gulf carrier that kept taking people home to the U.S. throughout this crisis, maintaining flights to Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth
  • Working closely with the Governments of Qatar and the U.S the airline has helped take home over 160,000 passengers to the U.S. since February on scheduled and charter flights

The national carrier of the State of Qatar is proud to reaffirm its further commitment to the U.S. with the resumption of flights to New York (JFK) from 19 June (rising to 10 weekly from 2 July) and to Boston, Los Angeles and Washington Dulles from 1 July. This will see the airline’s U.S. network rebuild to 39 weekly flights by mid-July 2020.

Qatar Airways commitment to the U.S. market has not waivered throughout this unprecedented crisis. While other airlines from the Gulf stopped operating, Qatar Airways has continued to work closely with the U.S. Government and airports to take over 160,000 stranded people home from Australasia, Africa, India and the Middle East.

With strong existing partnerships with American Airline and JetBlue in place, the restarting of these flights brings even greater benefits to Qatar Airways passengers. Existing services to Dallas-Forth Worth and Chicago currently enable passengers to book onward travel with American Airline to almost 180 destinations on more than 350 domestic flights per day.

This will increase to more than 600 daily flights with the addition of services to Boston, New York, Los Angeles and Washington Dulles. Qatar Airways’ New York flights and five-weekly Boston flights will also facilitate the resumption of the JetBlue codeshare. Passengers will immediately be able to book travel across the entire JetBlue network on 70 flights per day to 46 destinations.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “Since the pandemic outbreak, at Qatar Airways we have been completely focused at fulfilling our mission to bring people home. We worked closely with governments around the world to ensure their stranded citizens could travel home safely and our repatriation efforts were widely recognised and applauded.

The United States is historically a hugely significant strategic market for our airline and at the end of April, U.S. Secretary of State, Michael Pompeo personally expressed his appreciation of Qatar Airways’ continued assistance and the tremendous efforts extended by the airline to repatriate tens of thousands of Americans.

“With the relaunch of these additional four destinations bringing our total to six, Qatar Airways is clearly demonstrating its strong commitment to the U.S. market. All of the six destinations will be served with a minimum of five weekly flights from mid-July, with 10 weekly flights operating to JFK. Offering unrivalled connectivity via Hamad International Airport in Doha, recently voted the Best Airport in the Middle East for the sixth year in a row, passengers to and from the U.S. can seamlessly connect with over 40 cities across Africa, Asia, Australasia and the Middle East from mid-July.

Qatar Airways has continually led the industry during these unprecedented months, accumulating unrivalled experience in carrying passengers safely and reliably. By maintaining a global network that never fell below 30 destinations, Qatar Airways has stayed up to date with the latest in international airport procedures and implemented the most advanced safety and hygiene measures on board its aircraft and in Hamad International Airport.”

Passengers flying Business Class on Qsuite equipped aircraft can avail of the enhanced privacy this award-winning suite provides, including sliding privacy partitions and fully closing doors that create a private sanctuary. Passengers can also opt to use the ‘Do Not Disturb (DND)’ indicator in their private suite, if they wish to limit their interactions with the cabin crew. Qsuite continues to be available on flights to more than 30 destinations including London, Sydney, Singapore and Dallas-Fort Worth with plans to add it to more routes throughout the summer.

Qatar Airways has further enhanced its on-board safety measures for passengers and cabin crew. The airline has implemented several changes, including the introduction of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suits for cabin crew while on board, as well as a modified service that reduces interactions between the passengers and the crew inflight. Passengers will also be required to wear face coverings inflight, with the carrier recommending travellers bring their own for fit and comfort purposes.

To ensure travellers can plan their travel with peace of mind, the airline has also extended its booking policies to offer even more choice to its passengers. The airline will allow unlimited date changes, and passengers can change their destination as often as they need if it is within 5,000 miles of the original destination. The airline will not charge any fare differences for travel completed before 31 December 2020, after which fare rules will apply. Reopening of Malaysia’s International Borders for Healthcare Travellers

0

The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) welcomes the announcement by the Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, on the Government’s decision to reopen the country’s international borders to healthcare travellers. This serves as a positive indicator for Malaysia’s economy as it marks a significant rebound for the healthcare travel industry.

As patient and visitor safety remain our topmost priority, this allowance is further subjected to the approved stringent Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). These SOPs include, but are not limited to, healthcare travellers registering with MHTC before travelling here for treatment. More information regarding these SOPs will be made available to the public once details have been finalised.

Malaysia’s efficient management of the pandemic has seen a significant reduction in the number of cases. This is a testament to the trust and confidence in our robust healthcare system, substantiating Malaysia’s recognition as the World’s Healthcare Marvel. Our country’s strong foundation in pandemic preparedness has earned us global recognitions, particularly from the World Health Organization.

As the nation unites to recover from these trying times, MHTC will continue to showcase Malaysia Healthcare’s capabilities and strengths as a world-class quality healthcare destination by paving the way for more innovative industry service offerings. We will keep all parties informed of the next steps as we prepare to welcome healthcare travellers back to our country. Until then, let us continue the fight to eradicate COVID-19 from our shores to showcase our capabilities as the World’s Healthcare Marvel.

Accelerating Medical Services Capability to Fight Against Covid-19 Through Recruitment and Training for Medical Personnel with Docquity

Facing the Corona virus with rapid infectiousness, every country must implement the proper treatment standards based on WHO reference. In Indonesia, there are two main challenges in implementing the Covid-19 pandemic response. First, how to increase the number of medical personnel sourced from volunteers. Second, how to provide them with knowledge about Covid-19 technical guidance according to WHO reference. Both challenges are becoming more difficult due to the implementation of large-scale social distancing that limits mobility while the number of positive cases keep increasing to almost 1000 per day.

Therefore, synergy of external parties are highly needed, especially on adding more health personnel. Docquity as a digital networking platform for doctors offers solutions for these challenges by providing a recruitment system and providing training for medical personnel to treat Covid-19 patients.

Amit Vithal as Co-Founder of Docquity said, “As a member of Indonesian Medical Association (IDI), Docquity welcomes collaboration with the Ministry of Health in the recruitment process and provides training for medical personnel to treat Covid-19 patients through our platform. Docquity has successfully gathered thousands of doctors as active users. Online training and recruitment which is held by Docquity and fully supported by The Health Minister, is giving impacts not only for the healing of patients, but also the safety of patients and medical officers involved in the services based on WHO standards.” (17/06/2020)

The collaborations began with the signing agreement between Docquity and The Health Ministry on March 19, 2020, where Docquity officially became a member of Aliansi Telemedik Indonesia (Atensi) to recruit and provide training for medical personnel to treat Covid-19 patients. According to data on June 11, 2020, there are 887 doctors assigned consisting of 667 general practitioners and 200 specialists. Most of the doctors came from Java Island with the majority from Jakarta, Tangerang and Bandung. Then the remaining 40% came from Aceh, Kalimantan, Sulawesi to Flores. This number shows the high spirit of humanity of doctors throughout Indonesia to join hands in the fight against Covid-19 at the forefront. After completing the training, the doctors will be distributed to several locations where Covid-19 patients are located, such as Wisma Atlet Kemayoran and other regional hospitals in Indonesia, with all accommodations covered by the government.

Prof. DR. Dr. Syafri Kamsul Arif, Sp.An.KlC-KAKV as Chairman of PP PERDATIN (Perhimpunan Dokter Anestesi dan Terapi Intensif Indonesia) who was also the guest speakers in training session for volunteers said that, “One of the training materials that we provide is the treatments for patients focusing on the treatment to prevent worsening of diseases, especially patient in crisis. This is very important because most doctors will see patients in the next stages of COVID-19, not those who had new symptoms or patients under surveillance (PDP).”

Amit added, “We hold the training for volunteer doctors daily, around 3 to 4 times through live sessions everyday with various topics. So that volunteer doctors will gain new knowledge every single day, along with the development of Covid-19 cases found.”

The special quality of Docquity as a digital platform for health workers is a manifestation of technology advances that allow doctors to share medical knowledge and practical information for patients treatment. Through Docquity, Indonesian health workers could discuss and share medical experiences with their colleagues, and enable them to share and study medical articles and journals from all over Asia that are updated every week.”

“We are optimistic that Docquity will continue to grow so it can help increase the health sector industry in Indonesia to provide better health service. By the digital strategy from Docquity platform, we hope to take the role on accelerating health service fighting Covid-19 plague in Indonesia,” closed Amit.

‘My Love Letter to Italy’ by Francesco Carrozzini

0

This week, Belmond begins to reopen its iconic Italian portfolio and launches a campaign to inspire a new love affair with Italy. The ‘My Love Letter to Italy’ is a film written, directed and narrated by Emmy award-nominated Director,Francesco Carrozzini – a truly personal reflection on what makes his home country so special, with a romantic nostalgia for rekindling fond memories and inviting viewers to fall in love with Italy, again.

Commenting on the film, Francesco Carrozzini says: “I have been staying at Belmond hotels for as long as I can remember and, as an Italian, I always felt they captured the true spirit of Italy. During lockdown I kept dreaming of the Italian summer and I was longing to go back home. Now more than ever, I appreciate what I had too often taken for granted about Italy – its food, its beauty and of course, its people. I made this film to capture that feeling, to make us Italians fall in love with Italy all over again.”

With Belmond Hotel Cipriani and Belmond Hotel Splendido, opening on 19 June with others to follow from July, Belmond has created a series of experiences that celebrate a new Italian renaissance, from romantic encounters for ‘Amore Cortese’ to escapes in the beauty of nature and the welcome embrace of human virtues.

For the lovers

As loved ones can finally reunite, Belmond offers the most tempting settings for romance – from enchanted picnics under the golden light of Tuscany at Belmond Castello di Casole; to candlelit evenings on the terrace of Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo – where DH Lawrence penned the novel, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, to dinner on a private terrace at Belmond Villa San Michele with the magical view of Florence below.

Lost in nature

As the world re-awakens, it is time to discover the beauty of nature like never before – from hiking the rugged hills of Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe known for its surreal lunar landscapes where the summit offers breathtaking views on Sicilian coast, or discovering hidden islands of Venice on a bike tour of Sant’Erasmo Island or travel with the eyes on a magical journey across stars, planets and constellations under big skies in Tuscany. Belmond has curated exceptional experiences to escape into the natural world.

Warm embrace

At Belmond, it is the people and communities who shape the world of travel experiences – from the Amalfi fisherman in Cetera who source the magical ingredient

for the famous spaghetti sauce, to the boat builders in Venice who for generations have kept the art of traditional boat building alive and the Portofinese farmer who is pioneering a sustainable eco-farm overlooking the famous “Cala degli Inglesi”. Thissummer, guests will have the opportunity to meet these great characters, the maestros of the new renaissance and share in their passion and knowledge for their craft.

Opening dates

The iconic Italian portfolio re-opens its doors this week beginning with Belmond Hotel Cipriani and Belmond Hotel Splendido on 19 June, followed by Belmond Hotel Caruso and Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo on 1 July, Belmond Castello di Casole on 2 July and Belmond Villa San Michele on 23 July .
