Jimbaran Puri, A Belmond Hotel, Bali’s Initiatives for a Sustainable Environment

Jimbaran Puri, A Belmond Hotel, Bali continues its commitment in executing the efforts and initiatives to protect and maintain a sustainable environment. Ahead of the G20 summit in Bali and addressing environmental issues such as trash accumulation and landfill, Jimbaran Puri constantly implements beach cleaning, water recycling, eliminating single-use plastic, waste management, government discussions, education programs, supporting local farmers, and supporting Bali’s Turtle Conservation and Education Centre.

Preserving the enchanting life of the environment and the local community, Jimbaran Puri collaborates with local communities and the government to engage in beach cleaning along the bay regularly to remove materials left by the tides or beachgoers, a service that is increased during the high season, as well as education programs for kids to further enhance their knowledge and understanding in the importance of keeping the environment clean.

As part of their waste management initiative, the resort collaborates with the SMILE foundation in distributing extra food to those in need, unused shampoos and soap are also managed by the hotel team in collaboration with the R.O.L.E foundation to be reused and given back to the community. Jimbaran Puri utilized non-chemical purified grey water for its gardens to manage water waste and ensured water recyclingthroughout the property.

Jimbaran Puri eliminates single-use plastics especially for its in-room complimentary amenities almost 100% no plastics while supporting local farmers by sourcing their harvest as part of the cuisines prepared in Jimbaran Puri.

Supporting the local communities and suppliers of produce is the inspiration behind the sustainable initiatives of Jimbaran Puri in its ongoing efforts to contribute in protecting the environment as an integral part of the guest experience.

As Bali is a haven for all wildlife, Jimbaran Puri also supports the Bali Turtle Conservation and Education Centre, offering donations to the turtle conservation fund in addition to active participation.

Since 2016, the resort staff have rescued turtle eggs from the beach in front of the resort and handed them over to the centre, which will be raising the hatched offspring, then releasing them back into the waters from the beach, restoring the ecosystem and guaranteeing the continuous circle of life.
