Starbucks Announces Its First Certified Greener Store in Indonesia

“We’re excited to continue expanding our Greener Store portfolio worldwide, a key step towards reaching our ambitious resource positive goals,” said Michael Kobori, Chief Sustainability Officer at Starbucks Coffee Company.

“With a company of Starbucks scale – any one action, no matter how small, has the potential for massive impact. We are heartened by our partners around the world who are stepping up to adopt our Greener Store standards. This is testament of their energy and passion for sustainability that continues to drive our innovation.”

“As we celebrate the 22nd anniversary of Starbucks in Indonesia, we want to ensure that we’re creating a sustainable future with limitless possibilities. Together with our partners, customers, industry experts and advocates, we are innovating – testing, learning, and scaling – new ways to reduce our impact on the environment,” Anthony close.

Apart from give back more to the planet, Starbucks already has a long commitment of investing in the communities it serves worldwide. Celebrating its 22nd anniversary, Starbucks has expanded to more than 50 cities in Indonesia, with more than 5,500 partners who are proud to wear the green apron. And today, the company offers many ways for customers to connect with their loved ones over a high-quality cup of Starbucks coffee.

In its mission to make a difference in the lives of those connected with Starbucks, the company also strives to make a positive impact in the communities it serves. In 2020, Starbucks opened its first Community Store in the Jakarta Tanah Abang neighborhood, to create educational opportunities for young people in Tanah Abang, followed by the Starbucks Creative Youth Entrepreneurship Program (SCYEP) in supporting youth empowerment.

At the end of 2022, Starbucks also opened its first Signing Store in Indonesia to provide an inclusive work environment that is unified in Sign Language.
