Indonesia’s first open cross triathlon, which pits the athletes in a gruelling competition of swimming, MTB bicycle race and running along the beautiful landscape in Tanjung Lesung was officially launched, May 13, 2018.
Dubbed Rhino Cross Triathlon or Rhino X-Tri, the cross-country race is to be held on September 29 and 30 September 2018. Rhino X-Tri 2018 was officially launched with the release of Rhino X-Triballoons, the flying of rhinoceros and genki triathlon kites by the secretary of Indonesia Calendar of Events 2018 Executive Committee, Mumus Muslim. He was accompanied by the Managing Director of Banten West Javawho is also the Chief Organizing Committee of Rhino X-Tri, Rully Lasahido; Head of Tourism Office of Banten Province, Eneng Nurcahyati; Head of Tourism Office of Pandeglang Regency, Salman Sunardi; and two of the Rhino X-Tri 2017’s champs, Muhammad Taufik andTri Safitri Yulianti. The event was held at Tanjung Lesung jetty area.
Offering Tougher Challenges, Rhino X-Tri to Be Held Together With Rhino Trail Run & Rhino Mtb Xcm.
The secretary of Indonesia Calendar of Events 2018 Executive Committee, Drs. Mumus Muslim, MM. said, “Rhino Cross Triathlon demonstrates the spirt of participation by the private sector and strategic partnership of all stakeholders in raising the number of tourists to Banten. With the Rhino X-Trievent launching we are communicating with the people and inviting national and international athletes to participate and national and international tourists to visit Banten, especiallyduring the two-day event.” Mumus also explained thatRhino X-Tri is part of the series of events that make up Festival Pesona Tanjung Lesungheld on September 29 and 30, 2018. The event is a collaboration between the Tourism Office of Banten Province, the Tourism Office of Pandeglang Regency, and the operator of Tanjung Lesung Special Tourism Economic Zone PT Banten West Java. Festival Pesona Tanjung Lesung has been entered into the Tourism Ministry’s Calendar of Events.
Meanwhile, Head of Tourism Office of Banten Province, Eneng Nurcahyati stated Banten currently had two iconic events: Exciting Banten Festival (Seba Baduy) andFestival Pesona Tanjung Lesungwhose key event is Rhino Cross Triathlon. Initiated by PT Banten West Java, the sporting event is jointly developed and held by the Tourism Ministry, Banten Provincial Government and PT. Banten West Java as the operator of Tanjung Lesung Special Tourism Economic Zone. “To make the event successful, we need the support from the media to communicate to the public about these great events.”
The Technical Manager of Rhino X-Tri 2018, Taufik Hidayat explained, “We received inputs from the participants who demanded more challenging competition. Rhino X-Tri 2018 will have three categories, including the new category which offers the toughest challenge, namely the Eagle category. This category consists of 1,500-meter swimming competition, 30-kilometer bicycle race, and 15-kilometer run. The Rhino category consists of 1,000-meter swimming competition, 20-kilometer bicycle race and 10-kilometer run. The Bull category consists of a 500-meter swimming competition, 10-kilometer bicycle race and five-kilometer run. For Rhino Mountain Bike XCM, we have prepared four categories: Men Elite, Women Open, Men Open, and Men Master. The registration will officially open at the Rhino X-Tri event launch on May 12 and 13, Mei 2018 in Tanjung Lesung, which coincides with the Rhino Kite Festival which is also part of the Rhino X-Tri series of events.”
Muhammad Taufik who won Rhino Cross Triathlon 2017 and will also compete in today’s event, said, “I am pumped and am ready to participate and defend my title this year. Tanjung Lesung has its own character as well as interesting and challenging variety of landscape, including ground surface, and sandy and rocky terrain.Never have I seen this in other locations.I encourage other athletes to compete in Tanjung Lesung in September.”
