#PelarianWeekenders

Sadeqh or better known as Odeq further explained that through # escapism we believe that we should and can find healthy and better ways to manage mental health problems. And #pelarian is not merely about running, there are plenty of other activities we can do to keep ourselves away from mental health problems; music, art, culinary, lifestyle, sports, fashion, and etcetera. Because #pelarian believes that we can find our own #escapism in many ways, for the sake of our mental health.

Concurrently, Hatiplong psychologist Annisa Axelta said, ” self-care is when people take any action to maintain their own health, based on the knowledge and information available to them. Self-care is a must, not optional! Well, the #pelarianweekenders event is also part of self-care which is very positive. Whereas there are many different self-care activities, and each of us may have a different way in taking care of and loving ourselves as well as striving to achieve a balance between physical, mental, and spiritual health.”

“The form of activity may vary, it can start with something you like or whether to try something you want and comfortable with, as well as simple activities or things to do, with sufficient duration. The most important aspect about self-care is its positive impact, such as, for example, feeling happy.”

Dozens of participants attended the second event of #pelarianweekenders last Sunday afternoon, kicked off with Pelarian Move program where participants engage in motions, running or walking through a route around the Gandaria area of South Jakarta for 4 kilometers before returning for a Pelarian Chit-Chat session held at RAD 1440.

Furthermore, during the main event of Pelarian Chit-Chat, a Digital Lead of M&C Saatchi Indonesia, Rachmat Rionaldi Kartaatmadja, managed to share his experience in trying to escape his mental health issues during the pandemic.

“I had mental health issues during the pandemic, as well as when I had to spend time working at home. I had a feeling that something was not right with me, mentally, and it was important to recognize it and find a way out of it. Such as through this positive and effective event. It’s great to finally be able to join the #pelarianweekender event now,” concluded Rionaldi, known familiarly as Odiexcitingly.
