Starbucks Enters Sukabumi and Tasikmalaya, West Java

Store growth expansion deepens investments across Indonesia as the brand marks 20 years in the market

In celebration of bringing the Starbucks Experience to customers for 20 years across the market, Starbucks Indonesia today announced its entry into two new cities: Sukabumi and Tasikmalaya, West Java this month. Recognizing the cities’ rich history of coffee, these new stores are located in the heart of Sukabumi and Tasikmalaya to invite coffee lovers to a Starbucks located within the neighbourhood.

“Starbucks is proud to open our new stores in Sukabumi and Tasikmalaya which are also our firsts in those cities,” said Anthony McEvoy, Leader of Starbucks at PT Sari Coffee Indonesia. “Sukabumi and Tasikmalaya are ideal locations to bring Starbucks into the community as they feature many natural tourist destinations, including a culinary center in West Java, and both cities have strong coffee heritage. Starbucks looks forward to contributing to the development of these cities and is proud to be part of Sukabumi and Taskimalaya’s communities and heritage,” he added.

The new stores intricately blend the Indonesian heritage and culture with the signature warm and welcoming design of Starbucks:

Located in the heart of the city at Jalan Siliwangi No.79, Cikole, the Siliwangi Sukabumi store is in a one-floor building with a spacious outdoor garden and homey indoor space. Inspired by the natural landscape and the botanical artwork in this region, the interior design features Indonesian teak wood complemented by a sage green background.

Two large paintings, celebrating coffee in the region features coffee notes and an illustration of a coffee plantation, inspired by Sukabumi’s rich coffee heritage, further enhancing the visual experience in the store for customers. The store will be opened on February 27th, 2022.

In Tasikmalaya, the two-story high KH Zainal Mustofa Tasikmalaya store located at Jl. KHZ Mustofa No. 201, Nagarawangi, Cihideung, is a new highlight within the neighborhood, greeting customers with colorful coffee cherries in the form of an enormous and beautiful mural on the exterior of the building. The seamless and clean design expression used throughout the store is derived from the palette and patterns of the region’s coffee landscape, further enhanced by the colorful artwork display that completes the coffee story.

The second floor features a welcoming lounge area with a wide octagonal wooden table in the center, inviting customers to relax and enjoy their beverages.

The store will start serving customers from February 28th, 2022.Since the opening of the first store at Plaza Indonesia 20 years ago, Starbucks has strengthened its coffee leadership in the market by opening over 490 stores, with more than 4,000 partners proudly wearing the green apron today. In 2018, the market also celebrated the opening of the one-of-a-kind Starbucks Dewata Coffee Sanctuary, in Bali, bringing customers through the seed-to-cup coffee experience.
