Nyepi, Finding The Beauty of Silence with Alila Bali

Nyepi is a “Day of Silence“ which marks the Hindu New Year and is celebrated on the first full moon in March, in accordance with the ancient Saka calendar. This year Nyepi falls on 7 March 2019. On Nyepi Day, all lights and sounds are turned off and no one is permitted to leave their home. The entire island of Bali falls completely silent during this period as its people self-reflect and meditate in absolute serenity.

For visitors who happen to be in the island during this period, the Day of Silence gives them the chance to switch off and refresh in an environment that reflects this feeling of calm, to find peace away from the stress and pressures of everyday life.
