  • AS Roma is one of the best-known football clubs in the Italian league
  • Qatar Airways operates double-daily services to Rome and Milan as well as daily flights to Venice and Pisa

Qatar Airways is pleased to announce that it has signed a multi-year partnership agreement with Italian football club AS Roma, further strengthening the award-winning airline’s commitment to Italy. The agreement, the largest ever signed by the club, will see Qatar Airways become AS Roma’s Main Global Partner, with the airline’s logo to adorn the team’s shirts through the 2020-21 season.

The partnership will also enable Qatar Airways to engage with millions of the club’s fans worldwide and help Roma reach millions of potential new fans across the globe. Qatar Airways will be only the seventh shirt sponsor in the club’s 90-year history.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “We are very pleased to announce this new partnership, which will see Qatar Airways become the official shirt sponsor of AS Roma through the 2020-21 season. AS Roma is one of the most successful and well-known football clubs in the world, and our shared passion to strive for excellence and innovation make this a natural partnership. As an airline, we understand the power of sport in bringing people together, and our new partnership with AS Roma further underscores this belief. We look forward to working together and celebrating with AS Roma fans all over the globe.”

AS Roma President, Mr. Jim Pallotta, said: “We are delighted to announce this historic partnership between AS Roma and Qatar Airways, two great brands with global ambitions. Today’s announcement is the result of discussions behind the scenes for more than eight months with Qatar Airways, led by our commercial team in London with much assistance from the entire Roma team, and comes at a significant time in the club’s history, on and off the pitch.

“With a new stadium due to begin construction late this year and the team in the Champions League semi-final for the first time for 34 years, it’s an exciting time to be a Roma fan. We shall be proud to wear the Qatar Airways name on our shirts and we look forward to working together to achieve sporting and commercial success for many years to come.”

The agreement also further strengthens Qatar Airways’ commitment to Italy. The airline currently flies twice a day to Rome and Milan, as well as daily to Venice and Pisa. Qatar Airways last year announced the acquisition of 49 per cent of AQA Holding, the new parent company of Air Italy. Meridiana, Italy’s long established privately owned airline, entered into an exciting new phase of growth and development with its new identity as Air Italy last year.

Additionally, the airline earlier this month celebrated its partnership with the ABB FIA Formula E Championship in Rome, where the airline was represented as the Official Airline Partner of the 2018 CBMM Niobium Rome E-Prix presented by Mercedes EQ.

Last month, Qatar Airways signed a five-year partnership agreement with leading German football team FC Bayern München AG, by which the award-winning airline will become an FC Bayern München platinum partner until June 2023, further highlighting Qatar’s role as a global leader in sports.

Qatar Airways believes in the power of sport in bringing people together, and sponsors many top-level sporting events around the world, including leading German football team Bayern München AG as well as the Formula E electric street racing series. Qatar Airways is also the Official Airline Partner of FIFA, which includes 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, the FIFA Club World Cup™, the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ and the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™.

Qatar Airways proudly flies one of the youngest fleets in the sky, featuring the world’s most technologically-advanced and environmentally friendly aircraft. The airline operates a fleet of more than 200 modern aircraft to a network of more than 150 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.

The airline is continuing its ambitious expansion plans, and will launch a host of exciting new destinations this year, including Langkawi, Malaysia; Da Nang, Vietnam; Bodrum and Antalya, Turkey; Mykonos, Greece and Málaga, Spain.

As well as being voted Skytrax ‘Airline of the Year’ in 2017 by travellers from around the world, Qatar’s national flag carrier also won a raft of other major awards at last year’s ceremony, including ‘Best Airline in the Middle East,’ ‘World’s Best Business Class’ and ‘World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge’.

Conscious Travel with Alila Hotels and Resorts

0

Alila Hotels & Resorts has been advocates in sustainable tourism since its inception in 2002, going by its business philosophy of integrating Commerce, Conservation and Community towards “Conscious Travel”. Each hotel helps travelers to enjoy an exquisite stay whilst benefitting and bettering the local community.

Offering initiatives such as cleaning the beach at Alila Manggis and implementing bamboo straws at Alila Ubud, or in bottling their own mineral water at Alila Villas Uluwatu as part of the anti-plastic movement, creating organic gardens in Solo and planting more trees in Jakarta to helping the local communities in Oman and Bali, Alila Hotels & Resorts is committed to creating a better environment for future generations.

  1. PLASTIC FREE OCEAN

Alila is striving towards zero waste to landfill, with the Bali resorts targeting to achieve the milestone this year and duplicating the model at other Alila resorts in the coming years. Plastics are flooding the world’s oceans and causing irrevocable damage to aquatic life and its landscape and travelers are more aware now than ever. Alila has been championing the campaign to end the flow of plastic into the oceans, which is a prevalent issue today.

ALILA MANGGIS – BALI, INDONESIA

On the 28th of each month, Alila Manggis collaborates with local scuba diving center – Zen Dive Bali – to ‘Dive Against Debris’ at the Alila Reef. Guests are invited to join trained divers to remove underwater debris such as plastic bottles and bags. This commitment also asks that travelers identify and document everything that is seen underwater as part of a long-term effort to manage marine debris and clean up the Alila Manggis’ homegrown reef. The hope is that this initiative will grow into an inspiring coral reef story that can encourage more to strive towards a clean, healthy and abundant ocean.

Rates at Alila Manggis start from US$131 per room, based on two people sharing on a B&B basis and includes one snorkeling trip to Blue Lagoon & Alila Hospitalities.

ALILA UBUD – BALI, INDONESIA

Over 500 million plastic straws are used around the world every day, which is only adding to the already devastating amount of plastic pollution in the ocean. Alila Ubud has introduced a program that will gift every guest with a Bamboo Straw at the beginning of their stay. The initiative is designed to provide travellers with a sustainable way to drink and stop the overconsumption of disposable, single-use plastic straws.

The tensile strength of Bamboo makes it one of nature’s most durable natural materials and the bamboo-kun makes it naturally resistant to bacteria; both ideal and vital properties in a reusable straw. This eco- conscious strategy brings guests toexplore the rainforest at Alila Ubud and proactively contribute to the clean-up of the woods.

Rates at Alila Ubud start from US$280 on a B&B basis.

ALILA VILLAS ULUWATU – BALI, INDONESIA

Since 2014 Alila Villas Uluwatu has invested in an initiative to produce its own bottled water using a water purification system designed by Eco Pure Waters. Guests can now quench their thirst with fresh drinking water that has been filtered and bottled in reusable glass bottles right here on the resort premises.

The implementation of this initiative will not only significantly reduce plastic bottle consumption and pollution from disposal but also reduce the costs and carbon emissions generated by transporting bottled mineral water to the resort.

Rates at Alila Villas Uluwatu start from US$725 on a B&B basis.

  1. TREE PLANTING AND ORGANIC GARDEN

By planting trees with local schools, Alila Jakarta is helping to reduce carbon dioxide and other pollution emissions in Jakarta. The aim is to educate younger generations on the importance of protecting the earth, as well as proactively providing ways for them to do this.

At Alila Solo, the business resort created organic gardens at its rooftops which serves as part of its green staple in their restaurants – a good example of cultivating green environments in the city.

ALILA JAKARTA – INDONESIA

Situated in the heart of the bustling Indonesian city, Alila Jakarta is a haven of relaxation whilst also providing an abundance of culture and charm. Last year, to celebrate Earth Day, the resort participated in a tree planting activity at a local primary school. Top management at Alila Jakarta along with the Principal, teachers and students all planted 280 trees in the courtyard of Pasar Baru 01 Primary School. This conscious activity was

carried out primarily to protect and care for the future of the next young generation. Planting more trees on earth will have a big, positive impact on the environment and subsequently better the conditions for future generations to grow and prosper.

Rates at Alila Jakarta start from US$56 per night based on two people sharing.

ALILA SOLO – INDONESIA

Rising above Solo’s main commercial avenue, Alila Solo offers a luxurious stay in this heritage-steeped city. As the tallest building in town, Alila Solo wants to lead a good examples for city hotel. Following the four Bali resorts, Alila Solo set an organic garden at their roof tops which will provide fresh and organic ingredient to their restaurants.

Rates at Alila Solo start from US$56 per night based on two people sharing.

Guests can contribute to Bali Coins through the resort’s F&B outlets, where the price of selected menu items includes an amount to be contributed to the program. This year the funds collected will be donated 100% to Alila Seminyak and Jemme’s most prestigious annual event, The Bali Ball, which will next be held in October 2018.
