Hotel Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel, Venice, Enters a Dazzling New Chapter with Peter Marino at the Helm
There are places so steeped in allure that they become more than destinations—they become dreams etched into memory. Hotel Cipriani, the storied jewel of Venice’s Giudecca Island, is one such dream. And now, the Venetian icon beloved by silver screen legends, artists, and global tastemakers, welcomes a luminous new era.
This May, Belmond unveils the first chapter in the majestic transformation of Hotel Cipriani, reimagined by the visionary architect and interior designer Peter Marino. Known for his artistic flair and couture sensibility, Marino embarks on a multi-phase renovation that delicately fuses Cipriani’s legendary Dolce Vita spirit with a bold, contemporary perspective.
“Since its opening, Hotel Cipriani has been a stage for the Italian Dolce Vita, a place where timeless glamour meets relaxed luxury,” shares Marino. “My goal is to rekindle that magic.”

An Oasis of Art, Elegance, and Escape
Set against sweeping 270-degree views of the Venetian Lagoon, Hotel Cipriani stands at the edge of the ethereal. It is where tranquility and grandeur meet—framed by lush gardens, the city’s most celebrated saltwater pool, and an atmosphere steeped in cinematic charm.
From the ancient trade routes of the Silk Road to today’s Biennale and Mostra, Venice has always been a cultural crossroad. This richness of influence now finds its voice in Marino’s poetic vision for Cipriani: a harmonious dialogue of three defining artistic eras.

- Old Venice, with its ornate opulence and historical mystique, comes alive in rich architectural details and artisanally crafted objets d’art.
- The Mid-Century Modern era—the hotel’s golden opening years in the late ’50s and ’60s—returns in carefully selected artworks reminiscent of Biennale brilliance and Riviera reverie.
- Contemporary Art & Design, bold and expressive, infuses the space with the energy of today’s avant-garde.
