Starbucks Brings the Heat at World of Coffee Asia 2025

Celebrating 10 Years of Steamy Action with Indonesian Coffee Farmers

Jakarta’s brewing up something hot—and no, it’s not the weather. Starbucks just dropped into the first-ever World of Coffee Asia 2025 in Jakarta, flexing their long-standing love affair with Indonesia’s rich, bold coffee scene.

And they’re not just sipping and smiling. This year marks a decade of Starbucks’ on-the-ground support for local farmers through their Farmer Support Center in North Sumatra. That’s ten years of getting their hands dirty for your daily caffeine fix.

Indonesia: The OG in Starbucks’ Coffee Romance

Way before “artisanal coffee” was even a thing on Instagram, Starbucks was already sourcing beans from the highlands of Sumatra. Since 1971, Indonesia has been their ride-or-die—fueling almost 30 blends and over 100 single-origin coffees.

“Indonesian coffee isn’t just part of our story—it is the story,” says Chanda Beppu, President of Starbucks Asia Pacific.

So when World of Coffee Asia made its big debut? Starbucks rolled in strong, ready to showcase the flavors, farmers, and future of Indonesian coffee.

Brew It Like You Mean It: Experience Coffee from Bean to Buzz

At the event, Starbucks put on a full-on coffee carnival. Inside their swanky booth, guests could take a sensory trip—from bean-picking in the tropics to sipping a rich cup at your local café.

There were flavor-packed tasting sessions (cupping, for the cool kids) led by Sergio Alvarez, Starbucks’ Master Coffee Developer. Think: bold, earthy, and full-bodied brews made by pro baristas at the exclusive Brewers Bar. No sugar needed—this coffee’s got character.
