GEA Aesthetic, a dedicated aesthetics division of Indonesia’s leading medical device distributor, GEA Medical, in partnership with Croma-Pharma GmbH, an Austrian global leader in the international aesthetics market, have officially launched the MDR-Approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler portfolio, Croma Saypha® 2.0, in Indonesia.
The First Aesthetic HA Product Approved by MDR
Croma-Pharma’s portfolio adheres to the stringent safety and performance standards set by the European Union Medical Device Regulation (EU MDR), ensuring optimal protection for patient and user health in alignment with MDR’s mission to enhance the safety and performance of medical devices across Europe. This major milestone was achieved by Croma-Pharma in October 2023 when Saypha® RICH successfully received MDR certification. Since then, Croma-Pharma has consistently expanded its Saypha® HA filler portfolio.

Applying Decades of Expertise in Ophthalmology to Aesthetic Dermal Fillers, Supported by Exclusive Macro CORE Technology
With decades of experience in producing hyaluronic acid-based products for ophthalmology and orthopedics, Croma’s deep expertise has driven innovation in delivering high-quality products to meet the stringent requirements of the medical and aesthetics industries. To date, Croma-Pharma has produced over 110 million syringes for global distribution.
Additionally, Croma-Pharma has also developed MACRO CORE technology to enhance the quality and safety of its dermal filler range, known as Saypha®. This exclusive technology ensures that predefined viscoelastic properties are achieved during production, resulting in a purer and superior-quality product.
Clinically Proven Safety and Effectiveness
Beyond MDR certification, Croma-Pharma’s products have undergone seven clinical studies involving 470 patients. These studies demonstrated Croma’s commitment to the highest standards in the aesthetics market. Results showed over 95% patient response rate, with 92% of patients experiencing aesthetic improvements lasting up to 13 months. Additionally, more than 90% of patients were satisfied with their treatment outcomes at the 9-month mark, with no serious product-related side effects recorded during clinical trials.
“Bringing world-class Croma-Pharma products like Saypha® 2.0 to Indonesia strengthens our innovation efforts to meet the evolving needs of both general consumers and medical professionals,” said Endrajaya Tjen, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of GEA Medical. “We are fully committed to the success of GEA Aesthetic and excited to embark on this strategic journey with Croma-Pharma.”
“Indonesia is a dynamic and rapidly growing market for aesthetic treatments, and we are thrilled to partner with GEA Aesthetic. Their strong distribution network, commitment to quality service, and deep understanding of the local market make them the ideal partner to introduce Croma-Pharma’s innovative solutions, including our Saypha® 2.0 fillers,” said Valentin Gruber, Director of Global Marketing & Customer Experience at Croma.
Gruber also emphasized Croma-Pharma’s dedication to establishing a strategic synergy in this partnership, ensuring superior product quality that satisfies not only Indonesia’s aesthetic practitioners but also the wider public.

Meanwhile, dr. Dagné Pupo, Founder and Director of Dagné Pupo Clinic, Spain, highlighted Indonesia’s strong values of balance, harmony, and human connection—qualities that align deeply with her approach to aesthetic medicine.
“In aesthetic medicine, patient satisfaction, safety, and experience are paramount. To guide them, we need profound knowledge, refined techniques, and high-quality products. Croma stands as a foundation of purity, advanced technology, and scientific transparency, instilling confidence in both the process and results. When innovation, science, and beauty converge, we create tools that elevate practitioners and empower patients, shaping the future of aesthetics in Indonesia,” added dr. Pupo.
In recent years, Indonesia has witnessed significant growth in beauty trends, driven by increasing patient demand and advancements in aesthetic technology. Non-invasive procedures such as facials, chemical peels, and HIFU technology have gained popularity due to minimal downtime, while invasive procedures like fillers, botulinum toxin, thread lifts, and aesthetic surgery have become more widely accepted for their lasting and substantial results.
“When selecting dermal fillers for my patients, I always consider key characteristics that must align with each individual’s anatomical needs and aesthetic goals. Not all fillers are suitable for every facial area, so product selection must be highly specific and based on evidence-based medicine (EBM). The best dermal fillers are those that can accommodate the unique characteristics of different facial regions,” said dr. Ide Bagoes Insani, MM, MARS, Sp. BP-RE, a Plastic and Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgeon practicing at The Clinic Menteng, RS Pondok Indah, and RSPPN Soedirman.
As a plastic surgeon, dr. Bagoes emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach by combining minimally invasive and surgical procedures for optimal and harmonious results, including using fillers to refine post-operative facial contours.

Aesthetic practitioner dr. Indry Putri Widjaya, Dipl. AAAM, MM, MARS, who specializes in anti-aging, facial contouring, and skin rejuvenation at Privee Clinic, emphasized the significance of high-quality aesthetic products in achieving natural and long-lasting results.
“I have tried various filler brands, but Croma truly left a lasting impression. I am amazed by how Croma’s contouring capabilities create a significant yet natural transformation for patients. After visiting Croma’s production facility in Austria, I am confident in their high product standards, ensuring results that look natural, last long, and remain safe,” said dr. Indry.
