Aman’s Island Dream: Introducing Amancaya in the Bahamas

An exclusive preview of the brand’s serene new sanctuary in the heart of the Caribbean.

Aman, the iconic name synonymous with elegance, privacy, and peace, is setting its sights on a new destination: the shimmering turquoise waters of the Bahamas. Nestled within the untouched beauty of the Exuma archipelago, Amancaya—a name that means “peaceful island” in the Taíno language—marks Aman’s first foray into the Bahamas, promising a retreat unlike any other.

Set across two of the Exumas’ most secluded private cays, Amancaya is a low-density, ultra-luxury escape designed for those who crave meaningful solitude without sacrificing world-class indulgence. The estate will include a 36-pavilion Aman hotel and a carefully curated collection of fully serviced Aman Residences. With soft white-sand beaches, coral-rich dive spots, and expansive ocean views, Amancaya is a poetic addition to Aman’s storied portfolio.

Beyond the allure of pristine nature, guests can expect the signature Aman touch—impeccable service, tranquil design, and a deep sense of place. Amenities will include a serene Aman Spa, an elegant Beach Club, a marina for island-hopping adventures, and diverse dining options spread across the twin islands.

The vision for Amancaya is being brought to life in partnership with Dona Bertarelli—Swiss investor, philanthropist, and world-class sailor—who fell under the spell of Exuma’s wild beauty and wished to share it in a way that respects and enhances the land and its culture.

“Aman is a purpose-driven company globally renowned for its timeless elegance and bespoke experiences,” said Ms. Bertarelli. “Guests of Amancaya will experience the same wonder and connection with the community that I’ve come to treasure here.”

Aman’s CEO and Chairman Vlad Doronin echoed this sentiment: “The introduction of Aman into The Bahamas is a milestone. Through our collaboration with Dona, we’ve discovered an unrivalled setting that perfectly embodies Aman’s values of privacy, exclusivity, and natural beauty.”

Sustainability lies at the heart of the project. In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Amancaya aims for LEED certification, blending conscious design with the lightest possible footprint on its paradise setting.

Currently under construction, with support from investment firm Squircle Capital, Amancaya will be Aman’s third destination in the Caribbean, joining the acclaimed Amanera in the Dominican Republic and Amanyara in Turks and Caicos.

For travelers who seek not just a place, but a feeling—a breath of calm, a touch of the sacred—Amancaya is a name to remember.
