Conrad Bali reaffirms its commitment to sustainable tourism by winning the prestigious “Sustainable Hotel of the Year – Indonesia 2024” award from Travel Daily Media. Through various green initiatives, this luxury resort not only offers an exceptional stay experience but also makes a tangible contribution to environmental preservation.
Becoming Part of a Global Movement
As part of Hilton’s Travel with Purpose 2030 program, Conrad Bali participated in Earth Hour on March 22, 2025. During this annual event, the resort turned off its lights for one hour to raise awareness of energy efficiency and climate change. This symbolic action reinforces Conrad Bali’s dedication to reducing environmental impact and inspiring guests to be more environmentally conscious.
Sustainable Innovations: From Rooftop Gardens to Mangrove Conservation
Sustainability at Conrad Bali is not just a concept but an integral part of daily operations. One of its flagship programs is the Kebun Kita Rooftop Herb Garden, where guests can learn about urban farming and garden-to-table cooking.
Additionally, Conrad Bali offers a unique program that allows guests to contribute directly to environmental conservation by planting mangrove trees as part of their welcome amenity. Since its launch in 2024, this initiative has resulted in over 888 mangrove trees planted, helping to protect Bali’s coastline.
Collaborations for a Greener Bali
Conrad Bali collaborates with various environmental organizations to expand its impact. Through its partnership with Sungai Watch, the resort regularly organizes river clean-up activities to maintain local ecosystems. Furthermore, its food donation program with Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Indonesia has helped distribute more than 33,000 meals to those in need throughout 2024.
Additionally, Conrad Bali repurposes used soap into new products through its partnership with ROLE Foundation, preventing 237 kg of soap waste from ending up in landfills and producing nearly 4,000 new soap bars. Meanwhile, its recycling initiative with CHOP Value Indonesia transforms used chopsticks and skewers into high-value household furniture.

Toward a Responsible Hospitality Industry
To adopt more eco-friendly business practices, Conrad Bali enforces strict standards in food sourcing. All smoked salmon used is 100% MSC-certified, the rice served comes from regenerative farming, and all eggs are cage-free. Additionally, Winnow AI technology is used to reduce food waste by up to 50%, directly impacting cost efficiency and preventing over 72 tons of waste.
Beyond food management, Conrad Bali also implements innovations in water conservation, such as foot pedals on all kitchen faucets and wastewater treatment for irrigation purposes. These measures have successfully saved over 1,420 m³ of water annually.
