“Bella”— The Head-Turning Beauty Just Landed in Canggu, Bali

Bella is a new restaurant near Berawa beach, Canggu that aims to bring flavors that stretch throughout the entire Mediterranean coasts, and everywhere in between. And you don’t even need a passport to dine in.

The Mediterranean-Anatolian seafood-focused menu spans ‘Batirik’, an old traditional dish from Anatolia, brought to another level. ‘Steak Tartare di Bali’, with an additional Balinese touch and taste to the classic steak tartare. ‘Mediterranean Ceviche’, a Peruvian classic but given a twist of Middle Eastern touch.

‘Crab Ravioli’, using only hand selected freshly caught crabs from the local fish market, served with Prosecco and caviar. ‘Origami Barramundi’, served mediterranean style and baked in the unique origami style paper wrap. Desserts include the exciting ‘Bella Lisa’, where a chef would come to your table and prepare your edible piece of art  from scratch right in front of you!

Executive chef Oguz Karadogan worked at Lokanta 1741 in Istanbul (Recommended restaurant in Michelin Guide 2023) before joining Bella. And before that, he worked in various establishments such as; Aheste Istanbul (mentioned in Bib Gourmand List), Kurkcu Dukkani in Izmir (dubbed as the first open fire restaurant in Aegean region).

For drinks, the cocktail list includes classics and housemade ones. The latter includes ‘It was all a dream’ – created by the head mixologist at Bella’s sister restaurant; Sen in Warsaw, Poland. A refreshing concoction served with Prosecco on side. ‘Geisha’ – a sweet sake-based drink and ‘Kopi Martini’ – using original Balinese coffee giving it a distinctive and unique taste.

Then there are wines by the glass and bottle, sourced from wineries all over Europe. Bella’s manager and sommelier Marek Moczydlowski, developed the extensive wine card and would only be too happy to assist your wine pairing experience at Bella.

The name of the restaurant is inspired by a beautiful lady everyone’s in awe of. Young, energetic and full of life. From Thursday to Sunday, the restaurant turns into a high energy dinner atmosphere where the lighting illuminates a darkened restaurant-turned-dance hall as revelers move to thumping beats so that you can easily get into the party mood and dance after (or during) your dinner.
