KCN Marunda Port Initiates Stage 2 Mangrove Seeds Planting for 1 Km

KCN Supports Sustainable Nature Conservation in Marunda Region Through Mangrove Seeds Planting Program

Karya Citra Nusantara Port Business Entity (BUP) also known as KCN Marunda Port was built by NON STATE REGIONAL BUDGET, it is a strategic project to support sea toll infrastructure. Specializing in bulk goods loading and unloading services, Marunda functions as a supporting port for Tanjung Priok International Port.

This Stage II of the planting of Mangrove Rhizopora Mucronata for an area of 1,100 meter (1,1 kilometer) at mangrove forest in the Terminal Umum BUP area of Karya Citra Nusantara is a follow up to the previous Stage I of the same initiative for an area of 600 meters at the southern perimeter of KCN in 2017. Stage III will also take place in KCN Marunda’s Port areas in line with the Port Master Plan design.

President Director of PT Karya Citra Nusantara, Widodo Setiadi, said that “Karya Citra Nusantara (KCN) Port Business Entity is holding its commitment for sustainable nature conservations, especially in Jakarta coastal region by planting initiating Stage II of Mangrove Seeds Planting at Mangrove Forest located in KCN General Terminal pier 2 and pier 3 for 1,100 meters. The activity has gained support from The Ministry of Environment and Forestry as well as Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) which provides advisory regarding which type of mangrove would be suitable. This is our effort to establish an environmentally-friendly port also known as green port.”

Furthermore, Widodo Setiadi explained that the activity commencing on Friday (3/6) noon at KCN Marunda Port in Jalan Jayapura No.1 KBN Cilincing, North Jakarta is the continuation of the previous one in 2017 in the same area managed by KCN. Other than mangrove planting, KCN had also planted 120 spathodea trees a while back which now have brown to about seven-meter tall, also at the location managed by KCN.

Attending among the audience in the event were Coordinator for Forest Control, Utilization and Conservation of the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime and Investment, Head of the Main Port of Tanjung Priok, Head of Tanjung Priok Main Port Authority Office, Head of Marunda Class IV Port and the Directors of PT Karya Citra Nusantara.
