IMIP to Donate 500 Tons of Oxygen for Hospitals through Ministry of Health

21 Units of Oxygen ISO Containers Leaving Morowali on July 1st to Tanjung Priok Harbor Had Been Received Directly by The Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi

Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP), an industrial area located in Morowali, Central Sulawesi based on nickel processing with the biggest industrial chain in the world had aided the government with 21 units of oxygen iso tank to the government of Indonesia through the Ministry of Health.  Ministry of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, directly received the aid in a modest ceremony at Dermaga 03 Nusantara, Port of Tanjung Priok. 

The iso tanks, with a capacity of 25.8 tons per unit each sent by sea as from July 1st, 2021 from Morowali, Central Sulawesi, are aimed to cover the supply of oxygen for hospitals in areas that are treating Covid-19 patients.

Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the initiative and the support from Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP). The aid will be immediately distributed to referred hospitals for Covid-19 patients which currently are in short supply of oxygen. 

The government, along with the industrial sector, are currently making continuous effort to ensure oxygen availability for domestic medical needs.

Meanwhile, CEO of PT IMIP, Alexander Barus, stated that, “The oxygen aid is genuinely an expression of concern and solidarity with the Indonesian people who are still currently struggling in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. We welcome government’s invitation for the industrial sector to respond to the high demand of oxygen and hoping that the aid could help patient’s recovery. 

Furthermore, Alexander explained that PT IMIP sent 21 (twenty-one) oxygen iso tanks from Morowali, taken from oxygen plant built to support stainless steel manufacturing with production capacity of 3 million tons per year and 3,5 million tons per year for carbon steel at Morowali. All of the stock holders, directors and employees at IMIP Morowali area of about 64.000 people, are hoping that the aid could help the government in saving the lives of Covid-19 patients.

PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP), as a company engaging in the nickel downstream process at Morowali is strongly committed to support the government in accordance with its role in humanitarian missions, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. In March 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, PT. IMIP sent one (1) Hercules unit and two (2) Garuda Indonesia planes to carry medical equipment.
