A Trust For A Child

The Accor Group is Committed to Fostering Indonesia’s Next Generation

Even with the challenges brought upon by the Covid-19 pandemic, Accor’s spirit was not dampened and the Group continues in its drive to promote a better future for Indonesian children from underprivileged families through the group’s CSR programme, ATFAC (A Trust For A Child).

Founded by Accor Indonesia in 2001, and operated by “Yayasan Peduli Tunas Bangsa”, ATFAC programme is an innovative concept that combines environmental sustainability and poverty alleviation. It aims to help its fostered children gain access to after-school learning and mentoring, nutritious food, sports and social facilities, while guiding them on how to care for the environment.

“We are proud of our team’s unwavering support in keeping ATFAC programme alive for the past 20 years, even over challenging times,” said Garth Simmons, Chief Executive Officer, Accor Southeast Asia, Japan and South Korea. “We hope to see all our foster children successfully finish school, and thrive with additional skills such as computer literacy, English language, and others that will help them succeed in their future endeavours. We are here to encourage them to achieve their dreams of a better life, and there to support them should they wish to make a career in our hotels.”

Last June was a month of gratitude for the graduating eight ATFAC children, of which six graduated from Vocational High School and two have graduated from High School. As alumni of the programme, they are now ready to embrace working life, with some even interested to join our hotels. To celebrate this milestone, Accor held a hybrid graduation ceremony.

Accor owns ATFAC learning houses in Jakarta and Bali. The well-being of foster children lies upon all parties involved. The teams in Indonesia (corporate and hotels) enthusiastically held various activities such as mentoring, donations from hotel employees and guests, and donations of 100 million rupiah from Accor hotels in the Greater Jakarta area. Hotel teams brought provision of nutritious food and delivered supporting facilities for activities, bazaars, sale of ATFAC souvenirs and eco-pens (pens made from recycled materials), and more.

The government has shown its support through the events participation of the Deputy for Fulfilling Children’s Rights, Lenny N. Rosalin, The Ministry of Women Empowerment and Children Protection and The Deputy for Coordination for Quality Improvement for Children, Women and Youth, Femmy Eka Kartika Putri, The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture few months ago. In addition, the learning house in Bali recently welcomed the visit of nasionalism community under Yayasan Pandu Pemimpin Cinta Bangsa represented by some Indonesia’s public figures, namely Yosi Mokalu, Yohana Elizabeth H., Bambang Reguna Bukit (Bams), Soni Mongan (Amho) and friends, bringing joy and enthusiasm with Nasional Is Me value to the children.

The existence of the two learning houses and the ongoing activities would not have been possible without the support of Accor Solidarity. This endowment fund programmes encourages and supports Accor’s commitment to solidarity, bringing financial support for the region and local community, while allowing the group to purchase a building in Jakarta, Cipinang.

This allowed the Group to have its own permanent learning house, with plans to recruit more foster children in the future. Accor Solidarity supports in raising funds, while engaging its employees and customers.
