Amanera Offers New Activities to Recharge in The New Year

Jungle Sunrise Breakfast 

Take a guided hike through its expansive surrounding nature reserve, observing the island’s astonishing biodiversity, home to native flora and fauna and more than 160 species of birds. The 4-mile hike culminates with a sumptuous breakfast at Amanera’s mountain-top pavilion with views overlooking the resort and Playa Grande beach. Following breakfast, the hike descends through the rainforest ending with a peaceful walk on the resort’s soothing shores.

Dominican Fields Walk 

For the more adventurous, this new 5.6 mile walk explores the varied landscapes of the island, where guests can discover the richness of the Dominican soil by observing all the local fruits and vegetables found along the way including varieties of mango, chinola, cassava, plantain, avocados as well as the lesser known limoncillo Dominicano, cashews, guava, soursop and more. Once at the top, some 160 meters above sea level, guests can enjoy impressive views of the valley and ocean before hiking back to the resort.

Dominican Fields Walk 

This new two-hour interactive cooking class offers guests the opportunity to come together, preparing dishes using local plantain and yucca in the traditional Dominican style. Guests will create island favourites such as tostones and mofongo as well as pastellon and the famous empanadas de yucca. The class will be followed by a Dominican lunch. Further opportunities to experience local life at Amanera include rum tasting and cigar rolling classes with local experts.

For those seeking an endorphin thrill Amanera offers a host of additional activities for outdoor enthusiasts of all fitness levels including: 

Surf and Yoga 

Guests start the day in the water with a 2.5-hour surfing experience followed by meditation and a Surfer’s Yoga session focusing on stretching, core and leg strengthening and balance. 

Kayak or Stand-up Paddleboard Eco Tour 

The natural beauty of the north coast can be enjoyed with Amanera’s eco-tours that begin in nearby Rio San Juan. Guests can kayak or paddleboard into Laguna Gri Gri where the mangrove trees provide an impressive and important eco-system for many species of birds, fish and reptiles. After exploring the mangroves, guests can cool off with snorkelling at a nearby natural pool before returning. 

For an all-encompassing therapeutic experience, Amanera’s Healing Through Lunar Forces retreat is an ideal combination of fitness, spa treatments and nutrition all guided by the cycle of the moon.
