Enveloped beneath soaring canopies and surrounded by unbounded magical scenery, Aman’s three tented camps are serene sanctuaries enabling guests to reap the benefits of connecting with nature. With these properties comes increased mindfulness, reduced stress levels and a clearer headspace – with every convenience and luxury at hand. Designed for escapism, solitude and adventure, each camp offers a unique experience. From the tiger-inhabited jungle of Ranthambore National Park in India, to the starkly beautiful Utah desert with its vermillion rock formations, and an entire tropical island in Indonesia, life at the camps is defined by their surroundings.

The intimacy, exclusive to each location, and the access to a multitude of adventures, forms an ideal escape for larger groups or families desiring an undisturbed insight into a destination or a special place for an important celebration. All three will now offer guests the opportunity to book the entire camp on an exclusive basis, with the introduction of a new experience titled ‘A Camp of Your Own’.

The new offer will enable a stay without constraints – where life without walls encourages simplicity and freedom – with dedicated Aman staff catering to every whim, transporting guests from their everyday lives and creating lasting memories with friends and loved ones.

AMAN-I-KHAS, INDIA

(A Camp of Your Own is available until May 2021)

Set on the threshold of Ranthambore National Park, a former hunting ground and home of the Bengal Tiger, Aman-i-Khas is a secluded wilderness camp in rural Rajasthan. Designed by renowned architect Jean-Michel Gathy, the camp’s 10 Mughal-style tents are 148sq-m and 6m in height, providing airy living spaces, an expansive bedroom and a light-filled bathing area featuring a deep soaking bathtub and shower.

The tent interiors comprise of fresh white linen, cotton drapes and oyster-grey cashmere throws, conjuring up zen-like sentiments of calm. All fittings have been custom-made and include ceramic pots handcrafted in Jodhpur and a sink fashioned from ancient gun metal from Hyderabad in Utter Pradesh. The teak interiors were sourced from Madhya Pradesh.

Until 31 May 2021, groups catching up with family and friends and desiring a private insight into the destination can now commandeer the camp as their own by booking the 10 tents on an exclusive basis via the new A Camp of Your Own experience. With nature serving as a base for finding balance and rekindling social bonds, guests are invited to enjoy undisturbed seclusion amongst loved ones.

Aman-i-Khas-Spa

Cuisine at Aman-i-Khas is influenced by its surroundings and utilises ingredients that have been harvested on nearby farms or sourced from one of the camp’s three organic gardens. Supplying over 80 different varieties of fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers, each 1,500sq-m organic garden has its own separate location in the camp to protect the produce from inquisitive wildlife. Six local farmers supply herbs and vegetables not grown at the camp such as garlic, and a local family provides ghee and buffalo milk from which the chefs make yoghurt in clay pots.

The camp’s Mushroom Hut successfully produces oyster and button mushrooms, as well as a wilder species of mushroom that has been sourced from the nearby mountains. All meals are served in a softly lit Dining Tent or in one of the camp’s many sun-dappled outdoor spots and feature both Indian and Western dishes.

The camp’s wellness offerings are defined by nature in every way and include daily al fresco yoga and meditation sessions, as well as a dedicated spa tent. The Spa Tent is centred around a bubbling fountain and houses two double treatment rooms offering an extensive menu of treatments rooted in the principles of Ayurveda, an ancient form of Indian medicinal healing. In addition, every evening, guests are invited to enjoy an aromatic bath prepared with fresh flowers from the camp’s organic garden in the comfort of their own tent.

Adventure activities abound at Aman-i-Khas and include two daily Jeep safaris into Ranthambore National Park in search of tigers, leopards, sloth bears, hyenas, crocodiles, wild boar, Sambar and spotted deer. In addition, cultural excursions to nearby Ranthambore Fort and Khandar Fort, bird-watching trips along the verdant Banas riverbed, and camel rides through local villages can be arranged. Each tent is assigned a Batman to accompany guests on their explorations of the camp’s surroundings.

Further enjoyment awaits back at camp, where guests can relax around the tree-lined swimming pool or at nightfall in the sunken firepit, where the day’s adventures form rich material for storytelling beneath a starlit sky.
