The InterContinental® Jakarta Pondok Indah Raises the Bar for Dynamic Dining

Introducing Director of Food & Beverage Jonathan Lallemand and Executive Chef Christoph Pouls

The InterContinental Jakarta Pondok Indah introduces Food & Beverage Director Jonathan Lallemand and Executive Chef Christoph Pouls, defining its credentials as the focal point in South Jakarta for the finest gastronomic offerings from around the world.

Food & Beverage Director Jonathan Lallemand joins the team at The InterContinental Jakarta Pondok Indah from the prestigious Shangri-La Paris, bringing a wealth of management experience from some of the finest establishments in Europe and Asia. A Belgian national, Jonathan is fluent in several languages and trained at Ter Groene Poorte, in Brugge, Belgium before embarking on a remarkable international hotel management career that took him to Stockholm, Hanoi, Bangkok, Singapore, Manila, Paris and now Jakarta.

Also hailing from Belgium, Executive Chef Christoph Pouls has a reputation for creativity and culinary flair. Christoph was exposed to cooking at a young age in his parents’ fine dining restaurant and hailed from a family of craft butchers in the province of Limburg, so it was no surprise he developed a lifelong passion for cooking and hospitality. Bitten by the travel bug, Christoph moved into the international hotel industry, becoming one of the youngest executive chefs at Radisson BLU at 28 years old, based at their flagship property in the UK. After briefly returning to Belgium, Christoph once again felt the urge for adventure and moved to Asia, taking positions at 5-star properties in Singapore, China and Taiwan, where he oversaw various successful hotel openings as well as day to day running of culinary departments.

“We want all the outlets at the hotel to be leading venues in Jakarta in their own segment,” said Executive Chef Christoph Pouls. “It is already a given that any person who walks through our door must be happy with our service and our offerings, but beyond that we have to make sure we keep things interesting. And, of course we want to strengthen our InterContinental brands’ excellent reputation.”

There is a myriad of choices for dining at The InterContinental Jakarta Pondok Indah. All-day dining can be enjoyed at Sugar & Spice, with a menu spanning 5 continents, whilst a teppanyaki ‘speak-easy’ bar takes intimate dining to new heights. Guests can connect with business colleagues and friends at The Lounge with unique single origin coffee and the finest tea. The Aqua Lounge is the perfect venue to wind down above the city’s traffic with handcrafted cocktails by the pool. The hotel offers cooking classes and has excellent facilities with open kitchens for demo style classes as well as mobile cooking islands for small groups employing a hands-on approach.

The InterContinental Jakarta is located in the heart of South Jakarta with 311 elegantly appointed guest rooms and suites. Soaring over Pondok Indah’s premium shopping and business district, the tower is the crowning jewel of the elite neighbourhood. The hotel is integrated within a high-end complex that includes the prominent Pondok Indah Shopping Mall and is just minutes away from the world-class Pondok Indah Golf Course.
