Fiesta Mexicana

Gran Melia Jakarta has invited guest chef Julio Ortega from Mexico to whip up a truly authentic spread of Mexican cuisine at El Bombon Al Fresco at on the upcoming Monday, April 29th 2019. Mexican cuisine is known around the world for its intense and varied flavours, colourful presentation, variety of spices and fresh herbs. The country’s fertile resources have enriched Mexican cuisine with diverse produce like seafood and vegetables as well as the famous Guacamole. 

Chef Julio Ortega graduated from the top gastronomy college in Mexico City in 1997. He began his career in Switzerland and Erfurt Germany at the Culinary Olympics in 2000. In 2002 he traveled to Malaga, Spain where he served as the Executive Chef at Hotel “Cortijo la Reina.” He is the founder of TallerJO a culinary consulting group, owner of JO Catering and also a culinary instructor specialized in “Molecular Kitchen.” He worked in Mexico including the Hotel Real del Bosque Golf Club, Hidalgo; Executive Chef at Restaurant Carolo & Euromarket, Ciudad de México, Distrito Federal; Rodavento Hotel Boutique (Valle de Bravo) Mexico as an Executive Chef. 

This time, Chef Julio Ortega will fly in straight from Mexico and, with assistance from the hotel’s culinary team, spice up the hotel’s dining fresco with popular Mexican favourites. He will dish out a concoction of traditional and contemporary Mexican fare at El Bombon, which will serve more than 20 famous Mexican dishes, such as pazole,smoked roast beef with date and chipotle barbecue, rib eye with asado sauce, shrimp ceviche Acapulco style, black aguachile with catch day,squash mexican salad and many more. After digging into these flavoursome and tempting delights, diners can sweeten their taste buds with special desserts including pan de muerto, arroz con leche, Mexican churros, and also corn bread with corn popcorn cream. The Fiesta Mexicana is available the upcoming Monday, April 29th2019 from 6.00 – 10.00 pm at IDR 280,000 nett per person.
