GLOBAL crisis had made most of business households and institutions cramped in their operation. It seemed that they were standing between a pits behind and facing a hungry tiger in front. If they choose to stay, the tiger would eat them fiercely. To take a reverse step, also not a good option, there is a pit that waiting patiently. Just a few people that able to see the third options, those are to keep forward and seek any opportunities to cheat the tiger. The last option is just like to have a tiger by its tail, but if we act carefully and wisely judging the opportunity, we can boost the business to the higher level.
“In this era, we need a breakthrough to strengthen our company against the crisis. Thus, we have set several programs focused on marketing activity to grab investors that had base community in Indonesia. Like our agreement with Korean and Taiwanese company several days ago. Both of them want to move the operation division to their neighbouring country, such as Indonesia, Vietnam, China, etc. Moreover, we saw an opportunity that international companies tend to do the same actions in the crisis.” Said Raharjo Arjosiswoyo, PT. Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (PT KBN) Head Director.
As one of bonded zone management firms, PT. Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (PT KBN) had successfully filled up their vault by pulling foreign investor from South Korea and Taiwan. “ Both cooperation had been approved on Taipei and Seoul Foreign Investment Business Forum, which was held by BPMP Jakarta (Jakarta Investment and Promotion Association), Indonesian Embassy for Korea, and KDEI (Indonesia Trade and Economic Chamber)”, said Ir Eddy Ihut Siahaan, Msi –PT KBN Marketing & Business Development Director.
With Korea, PT KBN is working with PT Winner Tred, whereas PT KBN had provided 5,400-m2 lands for production. Meanwhile, PT Tainan Indonesia invested their capital on 17,500 m2 PT KBN land. “Both companies are in garment industries, and they invested their capital on our Cakung business area with long term contract. These cooperation like a desert oasis to the related parties. In such crisis, we hope that our cooperation would trigger national economic growth, especially to communities surrounding areas.” Eddy commented about their cooperation.
PT KBN has land assets in several areas in Jakarta, which is divided into bonded zone and non-bounded zone. The biggest business zone unit on Marunda with 413.80 ha that divided into 118 ha bounded zone and 287.20 ha non-bounded zone. “Marunda Business Zone is very strategic spot, beside it is located only 3 km from Tanjung Priok. The Government will put Marunda as Special Economic Zone with its international harbour. In addition, Marunda will have adequate infrastructure.” Said Eddy, he was also add that Marunda Special Economic Zone still has many unoccupied land surrounding and it can be developed to be supporting industry area.
Meanwhile, their asset in Cakung spread about 176.70 ha with bounded zone status 166.5 ha and 10.20 ha non-bounded zone unit. Hundred and four companies invested on those lands and took their business operation at Cakung. The third business zone is located on Tanjung Priok with eight hectares land-assets, has ten investor companies.
Beside their main property business, PT KBN also has several strategic business units that support their property business. “ Our strategic Business Unit (SBU) moved on the same track with our main business, which is industrial area property. In addition, our SBU also provided our clients and investor needs, such as trade document administration service in “one stop service” system, Trucking Service, cargo handling, temporary storage, security, medical, water supply, etc. Right now, we are developing information system in our business zone to maximize our service”, told Eddy.
As one of ISO 9001/2000 certificate holders, PT KBN is always developing their business and yet providing high quality services. Thus, PT KBN initiated fast response that handled all complains in short time and completely with a solution. They called the system as Just in Time Response system. “The system will solve all complain, such as physical maintenance, request, or order.” said Eddy.
PT KBN did not stop with their high economic valued goods and services. They are always improving their products quality, besides looking a new opportunity for business. One of their dreams is having one logistic solution service for national and international market. It seemed that their vision about new business would come soon enough. Eddy explained that Total Logistic Solution development process would be supported from their assets. He also added that logistic industry in Indonesia still has bright prospects.
