At the beginning, International schools are founded mainly for expatriate students who had to follow their parents to live in another country to avoid them from the inconvenience of culture shock and language problem.
Mark Meijiers an expatriate parents who has live in Jakarta for more than 4 years said, “I realized that my son have to step-in into such a new environment with major differences with our own culture, where language become a very important link with the environment. I believe they assimilate students from different nationalities, and adopting international curriculum that will be more familiar to my son.”
International school is defined as a school that conduct an international education program, by adopting their national curriculum from their origin country, or adopting an international curriculum such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) and by combining some National curriculum from many different country such as US, Singapore, Australia and British. Such as The British International School uses English National Curriculum up to age fourteen and there after an IB Diploma Course.
Now in Jakarta there are more than 25 International schools are registered. The number is keep on increasing, because these days many parents, both locals and expatriates, start to count International school as one good option to children education. High-end peoples look International schools as new trend for education. Some points might be the reason why now more parents are count international schools as an option for their children education that they offered some advantages than ordinary schools.

The budget you have to prepare if you interested in an international school is around USD 7000 – USD 9000 annually for early childhood and pre primary, and around USD 12,000 – USD20,000 annually for year 1-12.
International schools assimilate students from different nationalities. They try to broaden your horizon with promote exchange cultures and leave out denomination and racisms. I believe that any student who is from international school will be engaged in higher levels of academic excellence. However, it all back to your decision as “parents” who will choose the right education for your children. (Rachelia Nerishanty Desiree)
